    LJ and His '87 LX-I

Hey guys, new to the board. Wanted to introduce myself and the car (probably put a pic of the car up in a few).
If it goes faster than 115, it isn't really a Honda anymore.

Make sure to get your post count to five posts first, it won't let you post pics if you don't.

Yeah the car is going to get a fresh coat of paint once the 4.3 gets put in. And I am going to get a new hood because I cut a hole in the hood for the scoop, its functional, as the cold air filter is right there. The new hood will be cut and a cowl will be made so the turbo piping can make it to the intake. I'm debating on a single turbo or a twin-turboed 4.3, but leaning towards twin-turboed.

I'm not sure what color I want it painted, but I might stick with gloss black.

I'd go with either a metallic grey or the stock blue color.

Re: LJ and His '87 LX-I

Thank you, and I will do a thread about the build once I start. I'm stoked. I'm thinking, with everything I want out of it, I'll be pushing anywhere between 5-600 hp. I've seen a 4.3 hit like 800 or so horsepower so

I'm cutting the driveshaft tunnel when I cut the tranny tunnel. And will do.

Re: LJ and His '87 LX-I

I've decided to go with just one turbo, which will lower the total cost of the project, and will build me up boost faster. I've also decided on a Ford 8.8 inch rear with 3.27 ratio, which will also increase boost, and give me some acceleration in the process.

I'll either be ordering a 4.3 crate in, or looking for an 86-87 Buick Regal that has a 4.3, as for this type of 4.3 (different head designs) has more after-market options. I will probably be mating the engine to a tremec 6 speed, but will need to take some measurements for whee in the car the shifter will be situated. If it ends up too far back, I'll probably just go with a TH400 with either a trans-brake or. High-stall converter.

Once we get the driveline in the car and custom-fabbed mounts made up (yada yada yada), I will probably go with a MegaSquirt tuner, but I I can find a blow-through carb and manifold that would fit, I'll go the carbureted route.

Once the fuel delivery is figured, I'll put the car on the dyno to figure out the power curve levels to determine which turbo would perform the best in the car. My buddy thinks a 70 trim (his terminology, not sure it's correct) would suit it well, but we'll see what the dyno says when we get there.

I'll probably mount some MT Drag radials on the ass end, on a 15" rim set and try for 275/50 or the like.

    Sound good so far?

Re: LJ and His '87 LX-I

Well I've been wanting to do something to this car for a while but was never sure of what to do. It took my buddy messing around telling me I should put a Chevy 305 in there that I decided to transplant its heart with a 4.3.

Re: LJ and His '87 LX-I

I think I'll go a more cost effective route an put a TH400 with a high stall converter behind the 4.3 to save potential headaches and to save around $1200 for other things. I'll probably go with a Hurst or a B&M shifter as well

Re: LJ and His '87 LX-I

Well, for those who don't now, I've changed the mind on the engine, and I'm building a Chevy 350 and putting it under the hood. I'm going to be looking at a ceiling of about 700hp when finished, so we'll see what happens. Still gotta get the funds together, though, lol.
