    the real electric supercharger

I ran across this article after seeing another post about an ebay electric supercharger kit, The electric supercharger does exist, but you won't find it on ebay. I thought the article was fascinating about the technology, and how it works, so I put the link here, this is a serious technical article, no false claims or cheap junk. I think for anyone interested in forced induction it's a really good read.

I saw that last year and it blew my mind. It's truly crazy. IMO not practical YET bit if things keep getting smaller and more efficient then very plassuable to be done.

I think with the three odyssey batteries it's practical for drag racing right now, but that's about it, I wonder if he has ever looked into the electric motors for these hybrid cars and the batteries in this application? those motors can accelerate the entire car, they could also run a supercharger on demand

    Re: the real electric supercharger

I read that article when it was new. The same guy developed a mount kit for a roots blower on a 240sx, but never completely developed it, or sold it in quantity for that matter. I don't see the electric supercharger ending up to much different, at least not while he's the one working on it. That was from 2009, and if you look into it he has yet to develop it further in a way that makes it function better or easier.

Includes blower , boost gauge, solenoids
Fits most engines up to 8.0L
Drive System consists of one 8HP electric motor
Power Source is an independent, non-parasitic battery bank
Max Recommended PSI 5 PSI on a stock engine
    Maximum CFM 155 CFM-1000CFM
    Maximum HP 800 hp
    Maximum Duration 15 seconds
Installation Time 8+ hours. Requires basic mechanical, advanced electrical knowledge

For a kit starting at $2k, I'll piece my own turbo kit together instead.

120 v AC power inverter and remotely located electric leaf blower FTW, the gas powered back pack blower is too complicated

That's pretty much what it is. I see nothing wrong with that, but it's a big part of why it can only run for a few seconds. Battery capacity is fixed easily enough these days, with Prius packs becoming cheap.

yah but is the added weight of the battery packs offset the gains from this thing?
