Installing a Vigor garnish on a non-Vigor trunk lid (with PICS!)

I'm currently working on a 88-89 non Vigor trunk lid for a friend. Apparently Malaysian models have issues with the trunk key hole not aligning with the Vigor hole, requiring some work to make them fit. I've asked around and most people have no problems with this. But yeah here are some PICS:

I thought the misalignment might come from using a pre-facelift trunk on a facelift vigor garnish but you seem to be using both facelift items. Weird.

^that's what I thought too at first. I'm pretty sure I've put a facelift vigor garnish on a facelift accord boot lid and the keyhole lined up perfectly. though my memory might be inaccurate
