Beautiful wheels.
Wow 8" will be interesting to fit.. Very dramatic looking if they can, & no doubt tire stretch required.
Sad work on those fender bottoms. Gets depressing not being able to do work to the standard you would like with welding & metal work.
I know you will do well regardless but hope the end result won't deteriorate quickly afterwards.
Yeah 8" with that offset is gonna be fun to get them to fit. I'm pretty sure I need some flares for the back but I don't know yet. I still need to convert the car to 4x100 first.
Anyway its glazing putty time! aka one step closer towards completion woot!
Worst door among them all. The other 3 is pretty straight which is a good thing (Y)
Bought these
You know what thats for
4x100 CONVERT!
Its off
Now to get my lazy ass and get the tires mounted on the new wheels and get the hubs pressed at a shop.
I took another glance through this thread and your progress bro...I said it before and i'll say it again, you're some kinda f***in wizard.
You were given a rolling rust pile and you turned it into a sleek machine. Bravo dude, bravo.
looks amazing wish i had one
Teaserr

Poke!
15x8"; Stretch AND Poke, it will be dramatic.
People might think you've done this sort of thing before
Giving you some new ideas for yours?
High build primer time!
Looks like I'll be facing the same problems trying to get that upper side crease line straight and consistent on a friends car tommorrow. I ended up making a cast strip with body filler, taped a straight edge above & used the cast section to drag the filler in a straight line. but haven't seen how well that turned out yet after we primered it in the dark. I'm sure our wheelarch line needs more work though.
Yeah those lines are bitch to get it right. This is how I did it on the lower line on the passenger's side quarter panel:
Kinda hard to explain whats going on there but that should be self-explanatory LOL
Took a break from bondo and sanding madness and decided to mount the converted front knuckles using a 2g Civic hubs in the stock '78 knuckles. I found out the hard way that a 2g Civic hubs won't fit my '81 thank you Honda!
New bearings and stuff
ZOMG ZOMG ITS ON THE GROUND!!
This. Is. totally unacceptable LOL
They're poking out from the front fenders by 3" and have about 1" of poke with the fender flares on.
Now I gotta convince the owner to let me slam the car to the ground unless he wanted to look like an idiot with this 'fail' stance xD And yes its a normal sight here with people with 4x4 stance but with stretched tires and poking wheels. When will they learn that wheel gaps are bad?
That is certainly a lot of poke. Though it does look like if you can get it down, it will look better.
Yep they protrude far more than I'd ever want! Even if the wheels do look beautiful.
Certainly one way to attract attention anyway.
Given the additional fender flares I wondered how low they could be mounted to reduce wheel gap, though I guess they still have to allow for more upward wheel travel than slammed.
Did they have much clearance to the struts? Not sure how much their offset compensates for the 8" width.

Theres plenty of clearance with the strut, about 1-2". As for the flares, they were mounted as low as I could in the pics. I might be able to mount them lower by getting rid of the stock arches or something. But I've managed to convince the owner that he needs to go lower to pull that look and he agreed
I'm guessing another 2" of drop and some slight neg camber up front from having about 3-4" of total drop (-2 degrees prob?) the tires would be flush with the flares
Some updates! Installed front coilovers and its about 2" lower than before... and still not enough -.- and they're already all the way down even fml.
Anyway pics time!
Doors are painted. All of them!
Cutting the bottom brackets on the coilovers. Not fun!
Not your typical moar low job
All that work for this:
1 finger gap vs 4? before
-___-
I'm gonna have to work on something to gain another 1" drop else it would still look.. funny
Roof done
Doors too
Hood too (Y)
Minus trunk
All body panels are ready for base coat next week
Some negative camber going on. Minus gap!
Stupid thing is already all the way down too
Looks MUCH better! Can't wait to see it in paint FTW!
That is looking mean!
Lancer coilovers again? I guess coilovers use a standard size spring so lower/stiffer springs are easier to get.
Need spacers for the flares? Hope wheel movement doesn't bash them, should look a spectacular tight fit once done to your plan.
Yeah Lancer coilovers once again except this one have no removable/adjustable bottom mounts making the whole retrofitting process a pita!
No spacers required, they're just nice (Y) And yeah I was hoping any wheel movement won't rip the flares off xD
Damn...that hood is PERFECT. Very important detail to get perfect IMO....while I'm driving down the road I always get distracted by a slight dent in mine!
