Looks like I'm gonna convert all my lights to LEDs now.
Guess where this gonna end up in?

Tailz!
Nice. Me want
200+ ALL MOTOR LS VTEC
Wrong! This:
Rear view with the 9V regulator. Still waiting for my capacitors.
Incandescent on left, LEDs on right obviously
They have the same brightness as the stock 21W bulb. I should have gone with the brighter 70mA instead but I guess its still worth the effort haha. Gotta love the instant on and off effect from them.
Buy some from meh. Actually I'm gonna make them for sale soon
Nice!
I have some deal extreme high brightness 3.3v 14000mcd 5mm leds and a some 470ohms 1/2W resistors lying around here and wondering if they will work fine on the license plate lights? I was thinking on using 4or 5 leds ...
I will have to use an different resistor or a 9v regulator?
Thanks
Be patient with me , still improving my english
Google translate haha
Sounds about right according to this: http://led.linear1.org/led.wiz That link is where I got my resistors value from. But if you gonna use more than 1 LEDs then you gonna need a different resistor for sure unless you're planning to run each of them with each of them having their own resistors.
14000mcd is bright enough for a licence plate light. I don't think you would want them to be brighter for obvious reasons LOL.
Regulator is highly recommended if you could do it. I've made some LED conversion few years ago and the LEDs are starting to go out recently. They're good for 1-2 years and then boom they're gone haha. Let me know if you need anymore help!
I've decided to 'update' my cluster with UV LEDs and painted the needles with UV reactive paint so I could see them better at night.

I'm rather satisfied with the result
damn yours came out way better than mine
where are you getting the led's from?
curious how they will hold out to the 14v

Where's the DIY?
Looking good, Haz!
I've got the LEDs locally. They were rated for 3.6v 30mA something but I'm running them at 3.3v and 20mA (I think?) just to be safe. I didn't bother with any regulation circuit but we'll see how it lasts.
Heres what I found out to get the needles to glow better with less purple "leak" from the UV LEDs: Do not put the LEDs where the stock bulb goes. You gonna end up with a bunch of hotspots just like your pic.
I believe the stock bulbs are located in between the tach/speedo/fuel/temp gauge just like the 1g too right? I have 4 of them located just above the needles to minimize the unwanted glare from the UV LEDs. Also running the LEDs slightly under the spec helps too. You don't want the UV LEDs to be too bright so it would shine everywhere but the needles. Mine is barely noticeable IRL. Oh and sanding the LEDs to diffuse the light better helps too!
I'll get better pics of them later though!
Thanks!
Man I was gonna get a bunch of step by step pics but I got carried away being too excited to see the outcome LOL

Man that UV paint works great. Been wanting to do that for a long time, but I had no idea how well it actually worked. So what color are the needles when there is no light on them?
Ill buy a set haz. An the uv paint is legit. Works well
200+ ALL MOTOR LS VTEC
What they look like in normal lighting. Looks stock
That UV paint ideal looks awesome, I might try it!
Shit, my car had orange needles, and I painted them white. Totally made the gauge cluster not look like it was from the 80s, at least made its look 90s. :P
LOL I painted mine white too. But UV > that
Anyway so yesterday I've decided that I need a proper wireless antenna for my carpc so I might have accidentallied a hole on the roof ><
PICS time:
I don't know what to say.
Ooooh those are awesome man! SO JDM!
hazman you're a boss man
i wanna get that same effect
oh you!
Its made in Malaysia! Just like the rest of your electronic shit xD
Haha!
