Yeah I'd love to do the LED tailz conversion. But needs MOAR grid and like 6 or 7 horizontal rows of LEDs or something.

    Re: My 1g Thread

Well he wanted the tails to have the dots visible from the LEDs. I personally don't really like the dots on these cars, they seem too modern for it and doesn't really go well with the tail style. If I wanted to do it for my own car (which gonna be soon ) I would fill the whole tail with LEDs instead. Basically lighting the whole thing.

    Re: My 1g Thread

So my carputer decided to take a crap few days ago. It was an old ass Asus EEEPC laptop with just a Celeron 900 lol

It was quick enough for a carputer job but figured since it died I would do an upgrade

cah was kind enough to send me an atom miniITX board for free so that would be what I'm going to use (Y) Still waiting for the rest of the parts, DC-DC PSU and PCI riser card.

Some random satellite box that I'm gonna hack as my case

A little too big, I can actually fit 2 boards in this LOL

Back panel modded to accept the mobo's I/O ports. Looks stock!

PSU is going to sit next to the hard disk

PCI sound card on top of the hard disk (riser card needed)

    Front panel fiberglassed

    Front panel done

    Looks stock

Where its supposed to sit. Not sure if I should be worried of it sitting next to my sub lol

Reusing the rest of the parts, screen, controller and such. I'll keep this thread updated for sure

Now waiting for the parts to arrive. I hate this!

    Re: My 1g Thread

kso I've decided to convert the front lug bolts from the front 1g Prelude hubs to lug studs. I have 2g Civic rear and they have studs so yeah I have both setup on my car and it was a pita ><

And yes, thats the only Honda in history with lug bolts setup and no regular studs can't be pressed in. I had to order these from the USDM land since noone locally know tf I'm talking about. How gay!

Stock lude hub (minus not so stock brakes)

    Stud vs lug bolt

    Thread lock

    Screwed in

    Done!

Main reason why I'm doing this now is to run 3mm spacers to clear my front tires rubbing with my coilover spring perch. I could have gone with longer lug bolts except they would cost as much as buying these studs so I might as well upgrade the whole thing now (Y)

Did I mention that I hate lug bolts?

Looks good man! That's the way to do it! No more trying to line up the wheel holes with the holes in the brakes. I HATE that!

Shiny! Nice to have front & back matching again, so odd Prelude did things that way.. their strut-top mountings copied VW too.
Quite a transformation for that computer box too.

    Re: My 1g Thread

I have the PC mounted and running properly for almost a week now and so far everything is running fine. I'll get more pictures of it running but here are some in progress pics:

DC-DC 160W PSU from ebay. Chinese copy of the popular M2-ATX. Works just fine and a whole lot cheaper. Came with built in startup/shutdown control. Turns the PC on when the IGN is on and shuts the PC off when the IGN is off

    Installing some software stuff

    Case bolted in the trunk

I'm still waiting for my PCI riser card so I could mount my PCI sound card instead of running the onboard crap. Running the onboard sound as a temporary setup for now.

I'll post up some finalized pics soon.

    Re: My 1g Thread

Stupid seller sent me the wrong kind of riser card, oh well moar waiting till I could run a PCI sound card and finalizing my wiring. Anyway so I've got rid of my stupid chrome side mouldings Purists gonna kill me for that and apparently they're hard to come by LOL. They were complaining about me getting rid of the chrome bits and pieces around the windshield and side windows. Even the bumper lol sorry idgaf they're beat up and scratched up to hell anyway.

Anyway they aren't perfect, the end trims are broken and looking mehh. Sold them to Bondo Mobile so I actually made some profit haha. Bought these universal rubber stuff instead. I think they look awesome in all black vs chrome + black like the old ones. Chrome just don't work with my paint, sorry about that!

Full car pics later. These are the last chrome bits on my car. I'm chrome free now!

Yeah that looks good! I hate to say it, but your car isn't very purist anyways. It's a custom at this point. It looks awesome, so who gives a shit. I don't see what the big hangup is on getting rid of the stock parts. Everybody else keeps them original. Nobody actually customizes them. That's what makes yours awesome!

I almost feel like you could get away with a little orange or white HONDA vinyl at the back of the rear door on the new trim.

I got to admit, the rear bumper looks bad now. The trim really fits the flow of the car otherwise.

I should put a VTAKS vinyl on it instead. Actually I should put NOTEC on it or something idk that would be funny as hell hahah

But yeah HONDA might look good too but idk if its too much or something? I'd rather keep them plain/clean, which is the main reason why I got rid of the chrome ones in the first place hahah

    Re: My 1g Thread

Added a strut since the stock torsion bars are getting weak for some reason and wouldn't keep the trunk lid open and I had enough getting my head hit by it so decided to give this strut mod a try.

I already bought these hood strut kit for an EG? or something while I don't remember for my hood but then realized that its too short to use my setup.

I reused one of the bolts for the strut mount and redrilled a hole on the mounting tab on the gas strut itself. I'm going to paint it black obviously and I would clean up the brackets a little bit but it works so

Removed one of the stock torsion rod since it was too light and it would pop open violently

My trunk release switch is located in the center console so I'm guessing it would be hard to hit it by accident if I'm driving or something haha. Now I should make a circuit or something that would disable the button if Im going over 1-2mph hmmmm hah!
