Repairing carburetor diaphragm

Just curious if anyone has repaired a carburetor diaphragm before? I'm almost wanting to try this.. I have 82 carb that I'm sure the diaphragm is bad. This guy is using hondabond & looks like a good idea, bout tempted to try it.

It depends on how difficult it will be to get that part back out if the repair fails. It would be nice to know if it works though. I can think of quite a few places where this kind of repair would be useful.

That would be like repairing speaker surrounds so similar materials would be worth looking in to.

There is small, family-owned electronics parts store in my area that actually sells replacement foam speaker surrounds. It's an off-the-wall item, but at least I know where to get them if I ever need one!

It's an important business dude! I had an IDENTICAL replacement speaker in a set of vintage Bose 501 series II speakers., other than a small logo on the center cone..it was identical to the oem... and when I went to sell them to a collector that ruined the value by 80%!!!!
So vintage speakers like the Bose, Sansui, KLH, Klipsh, etc and the like..Always replace with oem or repair the surrounds.

The diaphragm , being that is is only moving air and no fluids, could fees ably be repaired if it were just the suspension for the cone and not the cone itself or the servo attached.

I finally got around to pulling the diaphram out & my diagnosis was right, hole in the diaphragm!...These carbs are on a 1982 Kawasaki KZ440.. I still need to get some hondabond, I just wanted to make sure first.

I can't beleive how much Hondabond is at my local dealership at @ $25 after taxes.. I'm going to keep this stuff safe & treat it like liquid gold. Anyhow, this repair is going good. I found the other diaphragm had couple pin holes in it too.
