    Help Please?

    Hey All,

Wondering if any of you wrenches have any ideas about what is going on with my '89 sei.

It hasn't been on the road much, but gets warmed up to operating temp most every morning, and shuffled in and out of our shop. A couple of days ago I decided to get some tabs on it and start driving it. It needs to go through emissions, so I thought I'd take it out and run it around a bit to clean out any crap buildup. Purrs like the proverbial kitten when you're sitting there idling, but when I went to take off it laid out a smokescreen that would have covered half of Seattle. Lasted for 30 yards and gone. Driving around, no worries. Stop at a light or something and go to take off, and watch out. Ran it up the freeway tonight, for 8-10 miles, and didn't change anything. Sit for a few minutes and go to head back home and here comes a blast of smoke again.

Anybody got any thoughts on what I might have screwed up? My wrenchin' days were spent on rides with no smog crap, no 'puters, and very few wires.

    Thanks in advance,

    Jeff

Yeah looks like you might need a new head gasket or piston rings.

    Little known fact.

Check for a leaky master cylinder. If it happens after breaking then voila.

Happened to me, excess brake fluid sucks.into the manifold and gets burned through the motor causing horrible smoke

I agree with the MC diagnosis. Mark the resivior and see if you're losing fluid. I had the same thing happen to me. I had to replace the MC, the brake booster, and clean out the lines before the problem went away.

billowing clouds sounds like you are burning oil, check motor oil and brake fluid levels, probably a bad valve seal or m/c as stated

OMG! The car is obviously beyond repair. The only solution is to sell it to me. Please do so immediately.

    Thanks.

    Re: Help Please?

A faster way to check for brake fluid leakage is to remove the hose going to the brake booster at the booster. If it has ANY brake fluid on it, replace the MC and brake booster. The BB might be alright for now, but I don't trust one that's been full of brake fluid.

Check the pvc and related hardware.

Also on the BB, anybody else notice how much detail Honda put in the factory manual about overhauling those, I found that odd but cool.
