    slammed safety

Ok so i went waayyyyyy lower and now im satisfiedwith my stance . but ive run into a problem, my trany and oil pan are to close to the ground for comfort. i wanted to know if anyone has raised an engine up for more clearance. i have ideas but would value some thoughts.

    Re: slammed safety

I would, but the only problem i see with that is that even though the skid plate will absorb most of the impact it might still damage something. idk if u have me on fb but i posted pics last night of how close i am. im thinking if a raise the motor up a little and make a skid plate i would be much more protected.

    Re: slammed safety

Skid plates. Seriously, it's your only reasonable option. Build one you'd be comfortable with on a rock crawler. It's what the mini truck guys do. It's the only reason some of them still have oil pans. When you're cruising low enough to pop reflectors off the ground, a manhole cover that sticks up 2-3 inches will take just about anything out.

It is easy to shim the front and rear mount, however the side mount would be difficult to modify because of it's shape and the way it mounts

    Re: slammed safety

They make 1/4 plate aluminum skid plates for Fwd impala cop cars, may find one in the jy off a 2005 ish ahh so doubled up street signs would be similar plate hmmm
Gwinnet county had a shitpile of those impalas so you may get lucky and find one around there shortram you need a metal break to bend it to fit poassibly.

My suggestion is to raise the car if you're concerned, but I always favor function over appearance.

k sport also offers a air ride suspension but its 2790...but that would look cool and still serve as a function

    Re: slammed safety

There are other companies that make them for Civics and newer Accords. Since we're talking about air over strut, you really don't need to be concerned with lenght, as long as they are short enough to lay frame. You might need to tuck your exhaust and add a fuel tank skid plate, too.

    Re: slammed safety

I so wanted air suspension but too much $$$$$ so theres got to be some good used ones out there somewhere !!! I agree, a lot of air struts from other apps could be made to work for ours.
The pinch fork added length may limit that to mostly Hondas though.

    Re: slammed safety

As long as it fits properly, it doesn't matter. IIRC, the combo is EF Civic in the front, CB Accord in the rear. Look in Lowrider and Mini Truckin' for companies that make air struts. Slam Specialties come to mind, but I recall issues with some of their bags back in the day.

    Re: slammed safety

Mine may be lower......and yes my engine is raised about 2".

Things youll run into....sway bar completely binds shift linkage up...and youll need to notch the body for the axles.

Edit: also youll need to raise the rear of the hood...cut out some of the under hood support...stiffen the mounts so your motors not torquing into the hood...etc.

    Re: slammed safety

It's what the small vehicle people do. It's the only purpose some of them still have oil dishes. When you're visiting low enough to pop reflectors off the floor, a manhole protect that stays up 2-3 inches wide will take just about anything out.
