    Unhappy 88 LXi, just replaced VSS in trans and reset ECU.

    Still getting the check engine code for the speed sensor even though I replaced it.

    I'm completely out of ideas for this car.

    You might consider downloading the manual from the wiki and following the troubleshooting diagram for the VSS.

    Hmm... I dont really know. I honestly didn't even know there was a code for that haha. Maybe its not the same for the lude. What number is it?

    It should be code 17

    From what I remember the part on the transmission only drives the speedo cable and power steering variable assist pump, the actual VSS signal comes out of a part in the gauge cluster

    Sounds like your pluser is bad. It's the box that the signal gets an sends it to Ecu
