So i was rearended yesterday morning, and have begun some preliminary searching for parts. The adjuster will be out today, more than likely will call it totaled, and hand me a check for an ugly number. But im certainly not letting it go. As far as i can diagnosis there is no mechanical damage, alignment will need to be verified, but from my observations i lucked out as far as damage...wow i cant believe im saying that. So if anyone has any local scrapyards or direct hookups on some of the rear end parts, I would greatly appreciate it.

I hate to say it, but unless you are REALLY attached to that car, I'd look for another one. They will NEVER get that straight.

Didn't that guy ever hear of an ice scraper? Those were standard equipment when I lived in PA.

For morning frost, the defrost button only works if you want to sit there for 20 minutes with the car running before you can drive.

It was just a joke. He didn't actually change your post, just altered the quote to reflect his views.

He altered the quote and said fixed, inferring that what I said was wrong.

Re: Rear end got crushed in....Need parts!

just an update... I have acquired almost all the parts nesecary for repair. All but the back plate panel?? Not sure of the proper name but basically it is the back piece that holds all the mounting for the taillights, licence plate, ect. It will need to be surgically removed obviously being that there is no replacement part across the world wide web. I am unable to find any junkyards with 2 g accords...sooo i offer to someone if they have the time and money, i will graciously reimburse/pay for their laborious efforts! Thanks

Re: Rear end got crushed in....Need parts!

thats not worth fixing, it's not just the back end, it's a unibody, when something is hit that hard, the entire car will shift out of alignment, the side that is hit will move forward in relation to the side not hit, if it was hit hard enough to maby bend some metal it's one thing, but that car is toast. if you put it on a frame machine you would instantly see it. the alignment measuring points on the car form a rectangle, now they will be shifted out of place.look at the door frame on one side closely, as far as the gap, then look at the other side, also look at the fender gap between the door and fender. the fact that it was hit from underneath also means the body buckled upwards, when a car is hit, it doesnt just move as one solid piece, parts of it will move, and parts of it will want to stay where they were, this causes the entire body to bend up. buy back the car from insurance, strip everything good off, transfer it to another car with a straight body, and sell the remains for scrap, I hate to say it, but I think thats your best bet

But yeah, seems like 2geeSEi isn't very familiar with le internet forum lingo...
My whole point in my original post was that defrosters don't work until the engine warms up, but some idiots try to drive without scraping the ice from the windshield thinking they can make it a few miles until it starts to work. This idiot obviously tried this and failed miserably ruining someones car. That is why I got so pissed at the "Fix" of my quote. It has nothing to do with forum lingo, it has to do with the principal that the person "fixing" my quote is totally missing the point I was trying to make.

I am with ya 100% on the whole shifting of the unibody and mentally imagined that. As far as the damage though and the door jam gap ect that you mentioned they all appear to be ok, or i guess the same. I think i was fortunate that the panel absorbed alot of the impact and that where that big crease came from, it abruptly stop there it appears. The car that rear ended me was going 5-10 mph, so i lucked out there to i think. At this point Im still in on repairs and have proceeded with installing the bumper and tailight. I need the back panel most of all so i can put on the quarter panel. I have not experienced any steering issues or alignment, well or at least worsened alignment. Im driving it daily 100 miles a day and cant part with it. I appreciate the words people. Now i needs me that panel!

How bad is that actually bent? Are there any major creases? The reason I ask, is that when mine was backed into, it looked pretty bad, but when I removed the tail lights and license plate trim, it was pretty easy to straighten. That piece doesn't show at all, so as long as the lights all sit right and the trunk latches, it may be ok. Even if there are a few creases or tears, it may be repairable.

his entire trunk is bent at an angle on one side, the pictures are on facebook, it looks like the quarter panel is pretty bad, it was hit on the drivers side end of the trunk it looks like, thats a bad spot for a hit

I have seen the pics, and he already has a new quarter panel for it. The part in question is the flat part behind the tail lights and license plate trim. On mine, the tail light itself kept it from getting creased.

anything flat can be fixed with a basic hammer and dolly set

Yep, and that part is completely covered by the tail lights and license plate trim.
