Modification, Battery moved to front passenger floorboard.

Back in June or so, I made a custom stainless steel sheet and 1in angle iron battery box, all 3 pass welded for added strength. I very rarely have passengers and the passenger floorboard seemed closest.

Then I used 2gauge power cable and found end copper eye lugs at Tractor Supply. Wound up making a 3/4in firewall hole, installed a gasket like print and ran cables through.

I know I don't have many pictures, as I'll have to get more shortly. I did place it in the passengers floorboard cause it only took 4 feet of fusebox power cable and 3feet of starter power wire cable. Helped keep the cables shorter. Overall cost $60. Time:4 hours.

Jumper cable and some speaker Wire will get it to the back and out the way.

i would reconsider of putting it somewhere else then the passenger. Why not the trunk?

I had it in the trunk. The amount of wire needed was ridiculous. So I went with this method. Its vented by hose to the outside compartment. Held together with plenty of bolts. Bolted to the floor just invade the car ever rolls over, battery and box will stay on the frame.

you would never be able to take it to a tack like that and if you meet the right cop that's a fix tix.

There's been many a cop stop me and ask me about it. In Alabama, we don't even have enforced emissions laws...I got this. To each their own.

I did run the power wires kinda far fetched around the coil. I still gotta 100% finish it. And run the wires better, closer. I've loved it since I installed it. Only issue was if the battery needed a jumpstart ever, boom. Like 10 bolts to remove first. That'd suck. Otherwise, no issues.

Re: Modification, Battery moved to front passenger floorboard.

You could put an auxiliary positive terminal in the engine bay, specifically for jump starting. (Any heavy, metal, engine piece will work for the negative.) My Bimmer had the battery under the rear passenger seat, for weight distribution. There was a terminal with a big, red plus sign on it in the engine bay just for jumper cables. It wouldn't do to tear out the rear seat on a luxury car, just to get a jump. The passenger footwell wouldn't be my first choice for battery relocation, but no one ever accused you of bowing to consensus. If it works for you, then rock on.

As long as the battery is enclosed in a box and vented to the outside there is no problem with having it in the passenger compartment. In fact it's better protected there than it is in the engine compartment. Just make sure the battery itself is held down securely so it can't move around inside the box and possibly short out across the terminals.
