    Broken Struts?!?!?!

OK here it goes... About 4-5 months ago I had my rear struts replaced. Stupidly, I just had the struts put in and didn't have the springs replaced. They are just OEM replacement factory struts. While getting the fucking things replaced I need a few bushings that were all seized up so I bought those and replaced them. But lately in my rear end I have been hearing a weird kinda popping noise coming from both sides it seems in the back. Now Iam wondering if it's possible that I borke my struts that I put in by not replacing the springs or what could this sound possibly be???I really appreciate any hep on this!!

Push on the back and let it bounce up. If it settles in about 1-2 bounces then the struts are okie.
Those popping noise can be from anywhere on the suspension because of the work done.

A sturt on factory spirngs should be able to not bouce at all when you do a strut test, once or twice would mean somethings up. My bilstiens failed that bounce test before I even drove a inch with them, gave me a really bad feeling.

Based on how you worded your question, I've heard of the original factory springs breaking. But it is extreamly rare and it is not the normal thing to do to change your springs when you do your struts. But the question remain's, what's up with your car? Pull each rear tire and do a visual inspection of all suspension pieces and both springs. I will mention something that happened to me. I purchased a pair of gabrial front struts for my wifes old car a few years ago. After only a few months she reported a disturbing sound comming from the right front. I drove the car and sure enough, it sounded like something was loose on the suspension of something. And when I did a bounce test on that side it bounced. So I pulled the strut and it was broken inside the strut body. I think it's valving mechanism self distructed. Just a thought. BTW, what was with stock springs.

I mean the springs are like 14-15 years old. Because when I replaced my front struts my springs were physically broken in a few places. And the front was making weird noises because the strut had been rubbing up against the spring. It is a weird noise almost as if the strut is broken again, whichI hope to god not. But is it possible it's anything else except just the strut?? I wil have to go buy a floor jack at the store and see what the fucks up with my car. THANKS JIM FOR ALL THE HELP!!!!!!

hmmm...if memory serves me right, the bounce test is 1-2 bounces. I read it from haynes and chiltons. That is if my memory serves me right eh. Need to check later.
