actually, according to my sevice manual, the manual rack turns EASIER than the power rack, but the power rack has a considerably quicker ratio.

I can take a look around the local junk yards for manual racks next time i'm out, if that helps at all..

hmmmm. thats a good find... I'm gonna give that a shot on my rack thats shot...lol if it works i'll do it to a new one...
Wednesday or thurs i should be able to make it out...i read that article on "depowering" the rack, i don' t really like how they did it. the steering would still has the play left over from the valve actuation, a true manual rack wouldn't.

i finally made it out to the Waneta Auto recyclers and found out the guy there has up to six of the bloody things! he's willing to sell for around 100 bucks canadian, so there you go..

i'm heading to edmonton (wainwright) for a few days again with the army, but i'll check in with him once i get back sometime friday. I hope he doesn't get deluged with emails and phone calls now
anyways i'll see what i can work out, either way it'll be a few days.
edit: i'll also be a little short of spare cash cause i'm in the middle of building a hybrid 20R/22R for my ticking rattling little truck.
edit again: I'm not sure if he'll lower the price anymore cause i'm already getting a deal, i'm a pretty good customer of his, i get free run of the yard and all sorts of deals

beyond that, will he let the crossmember go too? How much will he get for that?
Don't forget guys, without major modification to the crossmember on the US cars, the manual rack will not fit. The best way to get the manual rack in is to use the crossmember from the manual cars too.
