FS: 1986 Accord LX-i Hatchback. South Jersey.

Finally parting with my 86 Accord LX-i hatchback. I have no time, space, or energy to finish restoring this car, so I'm hoping to let it go to someone that will actually do it! I have about $2500 invested, but I'm prepared to let it go for far less.
This car is most certainly a project, but it's a great start. No rear quarter panel rot, quality suspension parts, and 3 engines and transmissions (one transmission is absolutely perfect. Brand new, never even used, but all seals replaced.)

I will not part out. I will not sell things separately. I'm listing this because I need to get rid of the car. I honestly don't want to put this on Craigslist, or sell it to someone that wants to do a weekend's worth of wrenching to fix it and flip it for a profit. This car has the potential to be something really cool, and though I don't have the desire to make it so myself, I'd like to see it go to someone who will!

For those that aren't familiar with me, I'm the owner of CB7tuner.com and CD5tuner.com. I have a reputation to uphold, so I promise to be 100% honest with the sale of this car. If you have any questions, or would like better pictures of specific things just let me know. I'll be checking back here from time to time, but I'm most easily reached on CB7tuner.com, via AIM (deevergote), or via email ([email protected])

    The good:
    -Manual transmission.
    -LX-i = fuel injected.
-No rear quarter panel rot. This is practically unheard of in the northeast! The car lived in FL until 2004, and remained parked in my driveway for the majority of the time since (with a brief stint as a daily driver in VA in 2007.)
-Legit 125,988 miles. On a Honda this old, that's quite low!
-Progress springs and KYB GR2 shocks
-Brembo front and rear brakes (Though the front brakes should probably be replaced after sitting so long.)
-Comes with extras (continue reading for a list)

    The bad:
-Most replaceable body panels need to be replaced (fenders and hood, mainly. The hood once had hood pins installed. One fender is black.)
-The paint is awful. A crappy respray done by a previous owner, and it's peeling off in many places. The car will need to be sanded and resprayed.
-There are some small dents here and there. Nothing creased, and all dents could probably be repaired with proper use of body filler before painting.
-The interior is gross. Might come back to life with a good cleaning.
-The passenger seat is currently disassembled, with the fabric removed. I had hoped to clean it, or create a new cover... but that never happened. I still have all the parts to put it back together.
-The tires, as you can see, are done.
-Ugly bubbling purple tint is only partially removed. An afternoon with a razorblade will fix that.
-The dashboard and driver's side door panel are done for. A replacement blue dashboard will come with the car.
    -No radio
-Straight pipe exhaust. I don't believe it has a catalytic converter installed.

    The ugly:
-The original engine is toast. Burns more oil than it does gas. The car will come with TWO replacement engines.
-The original transmission grinds. The car will also come with two replacement transmissions.

    Extras included:
-Pacesetter Monza exhaust (pictured below). Used, but functional.
    -TWO replacement engines.
-One was built by an enthusiast on 3geez.com, and may or may not be good (purchased in 2007). Built with pistons from a carb'd model for lower compression (intended to be a turbo engine.)
-The other is brand new, never started. It came from a local tech school that, I'm told, did nothing more than remove the valve cover. HOWEVER, the valve cover was not bolted down, and some water managed to get inside. I believe the internals are fine (unconfirmed), but the head will need to be cleaned out thoroughly before the engine is started.
-A new set of pistons will come with the motors as well.

    -TWO replacement transmissions.
-One is brand new, all seals replaced. Purchased along with the new engine. The seller was the owner of a small transmission shop, and this transmission has been kept inside the car since it was purchased... so it's in perfect condition. This transmission alone is worth the price of the car!
-The other transmission was purchased used from an enthusiast from 3geez. It is believed to be functional, but not confirmed.

-A brand new clutch and flywheel. Advance Auto parts, so nothing great, but good enough to get the car on the road.
-A box of random stuff... old suspension parts, coilover sleeves, mounts, AC components... nothing really worth mentioning, but it all comes with the car.

If the price is right, the Konig Traction wheels seen in the picture can come with the car. Tires aren't in great shape, and one wheel is cracked (possibly fixable... I don't have the desire to fix it.) They're not great wheels, but they'd look pretty good on this car.

Keep in mind, this is definitely a PROJECT CAR. It's a good start, but lots of work is needed. It will need to be TOWED by the buyer. All engine/transmission/coolant fluids have been drained for years. It cannot be driven as-is, and I have no desire to allow someone to fix it in my driveway!

This is my first listing, and the pictures show the car in a very sad condition. At the moment, I'm hoping to get $1200. In the coming days, I plan to clean it up and make it look much more presentable... at which time I'll likely try to get more.
So, this is your chance. Jump on this ugly beast for cheap! I will entertain offers. If it's reasonable, and you can come get the car ASAP... it's yours!

^Battery, tools, and Japanese book not included!

    ^Brand spankin' new transmission!

    ^Brand spankin' used transmission!

^The new engine. You can see the condition of the head. Should be fine once cleaned up. This engine has never been started.

    Thank you sir!

    Bumping this up.
Someone in the Northeast surely wants a rust-free project! Putting this beast together and getting it running would be far easier than fixing the rust on every other 27 year old Accord on the road up here!

I need the car gone. I'm looking to leave the country for a few years, and I need the space to store my other cars!

I haven't resurrected this car as planned over the last few years, and it deserves to go to someone who will!
I REALLY don't want to put it up on Craigslist or eBay, since I'll likely end up selling it to a mechanic that will slap it back together and sell it to some dumb kid... or some scrapper that thinks he can get more by parting/scrapping than he paid for it. This car deserves to go to an enthusiast that appreciates what it is, and will do to it what I've neglected to do!

I had a buyer lined up, but he hasn't gotten back to me... so unless he resurfaces, the car is available once again.

I need the car gone ASAP, so make me an offer! I'm not looking to part anything out. I need the car out of my driveway!
This car is in ugly condition, but you'll be hard pressed to find such a rust-free example anywhere else in the Northeast. Shoot me an offer, tell me when you can come get it... and most likely it will be yours!

Throw me an offer, and I'll likely accept!
No major rust, 3 engines, 3 transmissions, a brand new clutch, Progress springs, KYB GR2 shocks, and lots of other goodies!

I need this thing out of my driveway, and I want it to go to someone that will show it some love.

Re: FS: 1986 Accord LX-i Hatchback. South Jersey.

Nah you don't... it's completely dead! I tried putting it back in my CB7 the other day (after 5 years off the road) and it won't hold a charge.

Man, I hate posting on this thread. I always end up browsing through the site and seeing all the awesome cars. It makes me want to keep the hatch! 4 cars is too much, though. I need my Fit for work, I own cb7tuner.com (so I kinda have to keep the CB7), and I just bought the CTS-V (RWD V8... changing things up from the usual torqueless FWD!)
