    Exclamation Power Gains in Ignition?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

This is the ignition stuff that I am thinking of getting:
    -msd ignition
    -ngk platinum plugs
    -nology spark plug wires
    -accel super stock coil
    -accel stock and rotor kit

    Does that sound pretty good?

What are the gains that you think i'll be looking at?

    Ingnition and power gains

I have read many tech. manuals to learn mor about the way cars work and theory. I am taking this information from "Honda Builders Handbook Vol. 1". According to the author Joe Pettitt, the
ingnition system doesn't make power for your car. " If you believe the claims made by just about any of the ignition component many-packagers, you'd almost think ignition systems 'make' power.
Later he goes on to say that an upgrade in ingnition only helps the engine if the one already in the car is not adiquite for the car (which is unlikly for a honda because of the extreme enginering they put in), or the one currently in the car is not performing to it's ability due to many things like: wrong plug gap, short in plug wires, build up on plugs, distributer cap and rotor over used, ect...
Not to say that adding new "better" parts wont help but they help to insure that there is always an adiquite spark and charge to deliver at the right time.

So in conclusion the only way that you see a Hp gain after installing a new ignition component is becouse that component wasn't working properly or not adiquite for that car.

By the way incase you were thinking that Joe Pettitt was just some joe blow guy writing on things that he has no experince in.
He has writen several books ( Honda builders handbook vol. 1 and 2, High performance car stereo, How to install and use nitrous oxide, Sport compact car bolt ons, ect...). In his books he uses industry leaders for resorses and articles. He also writes has had articles for Sport Compact car and other mags.

Just thought you should know and good luck.

okay? well then why do people buy these things and state they feel gains in hp and acceleration and gas mpg????? jw

Does this mean i'm going to get gains or not, and The main question was if that was some good stuff to get like brands and stuff. for the most bang for the buck

all the brands listed are good brands. although i used magnacore wires.
people report power gains because the system they had may not have been working at its full ability. a new system can replace old and worn out parts giving an increase of Hp over the old worn out parts and greater mpg over the old parts.

it will run smoother and rev faster and it will seem faster... and if u ever put a cam in or a WEBER or headers then u will get increased power over stock ignition.

all that aftermarket ignition is probably overkill on a stock motor. Like was posted, the honda system is pretty good. yea, if your gonna build your motor with nos, turbo, supercharger etc... you would benifit from those componants but stock, probably a waste of money.

after market iginition wont kill ur motor, unless u advace ur timing like crazy then u will be thorwin up rods. U wont see much gain or even any, if ur existing stock igniton is working fine. THe only reason u would get an aftermarket ignition system is only when u have like lets say, a cam. or like a turbo or stuff like that for a precise and better combustion (more gas with better ignition). If u really want an ingnition system. Put it at the very end of ur mods list. cause u would be btter off spending the right money in the right place.
