    Collective b-series axle thread

Had to change my drivers side axle, and I'm not impressed with the fit of the 1989 prelude axle. I figured all the b-swap guys could come together, and make a thread about what axles to run on a b-swap.

    Passenger side:
I'm positive an 87-89 Acura Integra Passenger Side Axle fits like a glove, and I have been running one for years now.
A second confirmed axle is the 90-93 Integra passenger side axle.

The drivers side (with 90-93 ls 5-speed intermediate shaft)
I was running a hybrid axle it was the center shaft of the axle from the passenger side of the 86-89 accord. The ends (parts that connect to the hub, and to the transmission) are from an 88-91 Integra.

I recently purchased an 89 Prelude drivers side axle (must be 89 to fit in the 3gee hub). You will also need an intermediate shaft from a 1991-1993 integra 5-speed. It fits just fine in the hub, but I am having trouble with the intermediate shaft side. In the picture below: you can see that the left side is the 89 prelude, and the right is the hybrid axle. The splines do not go all the way down the shaft and this does not allow axle to go all the way into the intermediate shaft (can't get the snap ring in place). You can see I tried to modify the axle to get it to go deeper into the intermediate shaft. It looks like the axle is the perfect length, but the intermediate shaft side is the problem.

    Here are some installed shots.

Here is a pic of the 88 prelude axle just for reference. The intermediate shaft size is perfect, but will not fit in they accord hub. Top axle is the 88 prelude, and bottom is my hybrid axle.

Top one is a 90-91 which have bigger hubs those yrs but same inner cv. Has to be a 89 lude which has a smaller hub splines.

So looking around on rockauto, looks like I got the passenger side and not the driver side. Axle 3, lets hope this is the right one lol. Looks like O'Reilly parts are all mixed up.

The hybrid axles has been working for years, but between 3 swaps and about 20k miles it finally failed lol. I'm probably gonna have it rebuilt in case my new one fails.

    Re: Collective b-series axle thread

can i add that in my research i found out that the 90-91 and the 92-93 integra ls( most common) use different style intermediate shaft.
the 90-91 ls and the 92-93 gsr use the same style female joint intermediate shaft. 92-93 integra intermediate shafts will not work.

on my setup i used 89 prelude driver side axle. 90 integra intermediate shaft, 90 integra passenger side axle. i also removed all dust shields. as far as i remember my axles popped all the way intp the shaft. the passenger side wheel did not spin as freely as i though it should one all installed. but that may just be a wheel bearing/old brake issues as this car has not been road driven yet.

    Re: Collective b-series axle thread

just curious what B-series engines you guys are running. Would it be the same solution for any b-series, or would it differ if I was to get, say, a GSR swap with a type-R trans?
