    Lost my key...

Does anyone have a parts car that you could snag the keys, door locks and ignition lock from? Like the title says I lost my only key. And I would like all my locks to match versus having the door locks not match ignition.

Or does anyone else have a idea how to solve this problem?

And of course if you have the parts I need I will obviously pay what we feel is fair.

You'll probably have better results consulting with a locksmith.

Be careful, don't cheap out on keys. I hate seeing someone break a cheap hardware store key in a door lock...

    Snooz is right.
Take the lock out of the door 0r 6the one from the trunk, it's easier to get than the door. There is a number on it that a good locksmith can use to code cut a new key. I did that with the 86 DX i used to have because that car came only with a valet key that wouldn't work the trunk, internal trunk release lock or glove box.
You could also take the VIN to your nearest dealer and see if they can make the key for you.

That is assuming the number is readable.

^ You also have to consider the fact that he has a 1G Accord and I don't think Honda still carries the OEM keys for thems...

They might not have oem but they should have something or you will have to go to like Walmart and get a replica and take it to the dealer.

I knew the code was on the key, but didn't know it was on the cylinder too. Far out.

With as old as the 1G's and 2G's are now I assumed keys from newer Hondas wouldn't work. All of my replacement keys have been EK Civic keys. Same design, they're just shorter (or longer, can't remember).

    Re: Lost my key...

The 1g Keys are much shorter than the rest of the Honda keys. 2g Accords and up use the same keys, at least up until somewhere in the late 90's I'm sure.

^ Up to 1997 for sure for the Accord. My friend has had a few 4G Accords and my key unlocked half of them. lol

    Re: Lost my key...

I wonder if you could rekey the door cylinders as my driver's side is worn so bad that I could use any key or a screwdriver to open it. I ended up disconnecting the linkage for safety's sake -.-

    Re: Lost my key...

I locked my keys in my 81 once. Had a locksmith come out. He goes "Oh I haven't done one of these in a while!" pulls out some kind of a plastic key, sticks it in the lock, wiggles it and opens the door. Took him like 20 seconds. And I was out $50.

    Re: Lost my key...

That is classic 1g. My '76 was the same way. If I locked myself out, my house key worked great and only took about 5 seconds. Doh!

    Re: Lost my key...

lol this reminds me of the cambria meet where everyone would try to open each others doors. since i saw how easy it was to get in, I have converted my front door handles to rear door handles off a sedan and keyless entry.
