This has been about a 9 or 10 month project. This will be the third build so far in this car since i have owned it. The first two were small simple builds compared to this.
Of course, a lot of this stuff i am learning as i go, like fiberglassing, and such. You are right, there is a ridciculous amount of money tied up in it so far, with tools equipment, supplies and time. Far more than the car will ever be worth. But I have been doing small installs for a long time and decided I wanted to so something a bit bigger for once.
I do want to say that this is a small build compared to the builds that inspired it, so i have no delusions of grandeur, but it is enough for me for now.
There are a few suspension upgrades in the future, i am getting some springs from coils spring specialists that are factory fit and spring rate but give me an extra 500lbs load capacity.
I hope i can find some good resources here to help me out with things i need to be looking for on this generation. I have replace upper control arms front and rear, wheel bearings and lower ball joints in the front.
Anyway, thanks again for looking guys, i appreciate the feedback!

It's been a long time since we've seen an epic stereo build on the board. Most people here are good with a pair of subs with about 200 watts driving them.
How well does that router work? Any issues with it bogging? That's the router I've been looking at, since it's inexpensive and comes with both fixed and plunge bases. Jasper circle jig? I'm debating between one of those and a Router Buddy.
I havent had any issues with the router, The plunge base isn't real smooth but it works and of course working with 3/4" stuff you have to make multiple passes unless you want a burned up bit. The jasper jig works great but it's made of poly-carbonate (lexan) so don't drop the router with it attached or it will break.
Wow! This is the most epic build I've ever seen.

Just messing around and testing the subs. Here is a little video. Right now I am dropping to around 12.2v from 14.4 with the car running with 2 G34 AGM batteries. I will be installing a mechman 240amp alternator soon, so hopefully i can keep the battery bank small. Maybe 3 or 4 at the most.
I think this track is around 35-40hz, i haven't checked in audacity, but it's pretty low.
edit: there is a bit of rattling, i'm working on that, lol.
Mother of God.

I havent updated for a minute. Got some stuff going on, you know, life.
Anyway. Got the doors done. They aren't perfect but i am satisfied. The kickpods are coming out. I just can't make them fit with the door pods. So i wil have to look into a different setup on those. I have the mids playing now but still need to finish the a pillars and get the tweeters in. Got a few vids.
this video is 720p sometimes it just gets stuck in 144. Don't know why

By the way, i have these old pods. The first i ever did. They fit 5 1/4" speakers and a 1" tweeter i believe. I would be willing to part with them if someone needs them. Just pay shipping and i can send them your way. They arent the most beautiful things ever but with a bit of elbow grease they could be touched up and made to look nice.

Holy shit dude that thing is crazy. Like how you decided to make your own custom dash. Keep us updated!
Wow. I didn't know you could vibrate a windshield like that! Those rear speaker pods are cool too! Someone should jump on them!
Thanks for playing music that I know, so that it's easier to know where the bass notes are. Have you mic'd it yet?
After i get the "A" pillars done i am going to start on the dash again. Thanks for the kind words!
I have seen some builds that move the windshield way more than i do, but those guys are running way more power too. lol
I havent had a chance to put in on a term-lab. Once i have the wall sealed off good I will try to find someone with a meter. But I'm not chasing numbers, this is just for my own enjoyment and of course to how off a bit.![]()
Yeah, I'm building a small SQL setup in my car, but I gotta know how loud it is. It will never score well because I'll be using a processor with time delayed rear fill. That sort of setup sounds nothing like a huge front stage with subs in the rear like they are used to judging.
Do you have and sketches for tour dash, or do you integrate the design and building phase there? I am curious as to what's in store.
I have a few ideas in my head about the dash. Nothing on paper yet and i have one design in sketchup but its pretty old. But the dash is the next project so i better figure something out. lol
Hydraulic crimper, eh? I've always put those on with a hammer. It's not profesional, but it gets the job done. Most of the time, anyway. LOL
Nice work.

Wow, that looks money! I bought a big ass crimper that you hammer down on for big lugs like that. It works great, the crimps are solid, but they don't look as good as that. Mind if I ask for a link to what you bought?
This is what I used on my race car on my 0/1 cable... Looks are not quite so important there...
