How about we set it for two weeks from now. Then we can get the ball rolling.

If the top hats look anywhere near as nice as the trans mount (and I know they will), these are going to be sweet.

Chedda I had a look at the 2G prelude top hat versus the 3G accord one and they are VERY similar... It seems bolt spacing is only a few mm different. Are you able to adjust the specs when producting to allow for the prelude ones? It will increase your group buy by at least 1 set of fronts... ME!!

Thanks everyone for the purchases so far. We have two people paid in full. We are at $300 of the $600 we need to make before I can get some sets made.

    Thanks ITZDAVE and TDURRR

How close is it? I might be able to slot the holes to allow for the other pattern. I need an exact size. You could always install and just port the bolt holes either on the shock tower or just the new flange. I would need exact sizes.

Thanks for the reply. I just spoke to Hayden and he is going to take measurements from his rolling shell and send them through as soon as he can. When do you need those measurements by?

You should have some time. We are only 1/2 way to getting them made. I need $300ish more to get them made. I do have a lude at the farm, but I would prefer to have one in hand.

Yes they are all 6061 or 6063 aluminum, I haven't made up my mind yet. I also went ahead and extended the CAD design so to add .5" more travel. These will be mounted on the inside of the hood, to allow the shock to travel into the tower.

So does this mean the hole for the shock will have to be made wider?

In order to get everything out of these hats, the shock has to be able to travel though the shock tower about 1". If that means the hole needs to be increases to the largest size on the top of the shock, which is typically 2", then yes you will need to increase the hole a bit with a carbide bur. If you don't increase the hole size then you will limit the stroke. If I was to make a set where there was no modification needed, the most we could obtain is an extra .75" of extra stroke, which is hardly anything.

Re: Extended Top Hats and such- Cheddasauto

I hate to call you out on this as a moderator, but you're really not helping us out a lot by providing us with parts that are designed incorrectly. Do you know how suspension works? Gain ratios and things like that?

Guys, if you want to go through all of the work to make these things fit, you really might as well build your own. They aren't going to be CNC aluminum, but they'll be a hell of a lot cheaper, and you'll end up with the same results. If these were a real extended top hat that fit under the upper shock mount, then I wouldn't be making this post. This is the sloppy design work I was discussing with you when you became quite the dick to me on Facebook.

Re: Extended Top Hats and such- Cheddasauto

I know exactly how these work. I have built many sets for other cars and they have all worked great. They are not designed in correctly, they are designed exactly how they should be. They are not going to be a "hell of allot cheaper" if I don't cnc them. If I CNC them they will cost me $115 a set for me to pay SOMEONE else to cut them. I don't really think you know what your talking about honestly. If I make them myself, I am just paying myself to machine them, rather than someone else. These will take 3 hours to build atleast. Where most shops charge somewhere around $80 -$110 an hour for labour, I am only going to only pay myself $30 an hour. The material costs are $40+ worth of aluminum. So lets break it down.

    $150 total shipped
    $40 for materials
    $100 in labor costs
    $10 in shop supplies

That is more than fair enough. Go ahead and build your own if you like, I don't really care. You have had lots of time to do so. I have been asked so many times now to make these, and I am now doing so. I have not been a DICK at all to you on facebook. You have come and tried to block my sales by making false advertising by saying that they can be made a different way, or they aren't built right ect ect. But the fact remains that you still have not made a set, and I have made almost 100 sets for other cars and they have ALL worked just fine. I just don't think you realize the cost of things, you can be ignorant all you want. My products have proved them selves.

So how is that I am doing this wrong?

Definition of a shock: A pnuematic or hydraulic device designed to dampen the recoil of the suspension springs.
Definition of a shock mount: A device, typically housing bushings or bearings, intended to allow a Shock (see above definition) to be mounted to a vehicles chassis or unibody.
Definition of stroke: The ultimate distance from extreme top to extreme bottom of a cylinders movement.

Cars that are lowered, lose stroke, and by doing so, lose the "set-up" time needed to allow the shock to compress the internal gas/hydraulic oils. Because of this, the shock bottoms out, meaning the stroke runs out. Extended top hats help regain the lost stoke from lowering by allowing the shock to travel further into the engine bay. If a coil over design is incorporated into the design, then the spring may have to be compressed further to attach the top hat. Shorter, stiffer springs would work best to prevent preloading, and to help rebound and also helping prevent bottoming.
