    Distributor

    Hey,
Anyone know if it's possible to rebuild a distributor? Are there any kits/parts etc. availble over the counter? I looked inside of it today and there's a seal leaking or something and oil is getting all over everything.

    Tks

yes you can rebuild them but its probably cheaper to go to the nearest junk yard and pull one out...theres oring seals in there that need to be replaced

is the oil coming out by the distributor were it meats the head or in the distributor>>>???????/ it wouldnt run if it was inside....
so most likely it on the outside...theres an o ring you can replace...there like a 1$

yeah you can rebuild the distributor - theres an oil seal embedded inside behind the main rotor and an o ring behind the camshaft key -

When reassembling - ensure that the ignitor base is packed with silicone grease - its there to insulate water.

Yes, you can rebuild it. If you get one from a junkyard, inspect it throughly. If it has "red dust" below the cover that sits below the rotor, it's bad, get another one.

You can always hawk up the $300 for the rebuilt from the dealership :p

Duno about rebuilt but from boneyard or ur car, certainly should be disassembled and clean it. Particularly the rotor shaft from main shaft, that's where burned oil/grease hardens and from where (i believe) red dust is coming from. Leave the bearing on the shaft is there is no play and seal is good.
