Any easily modified Cold Air Intakes for the LXi?

Prefer a 'proper' cold air intake, where the air filter is down in the bumper area (no need to pull in hot engine bay air). I'm seeing 4th gen accord 2 piece setups for ~$50.

I'll build my own if need be out of PVC, but for $50, I'd rather go a slightly modified aluminum tube route

Re: Any easily modified Cold Air Intakes for the LXi?

I have read some posts about using the CAI built for newer accords, but haven't tested it out. I'm sure a quick forum search will dig up the info.

I built mine out of PVC and it was fun getting all the bends just right. Probably cost me around $30 - $40 total. Eventually I took it off because I didn't notice any performance difference having a stock engine on my car.

Now I run a K&N attached directly to the U-Shaped piece that comes off the intake manifold - right behind the engine and firewall. All I had to do was reroute one vacuum line and remove the airbox. Sorry to rant, that's not what you want. Just wanted to mention it since I haven't heard of anyone else doing it.

I've searched high and low with no luck. A couple people saying they've done it - no write up, pics, etc.

The CAI will come in handy later

Sounds like a 6th gen Accord CAI works, here is a post with some people who might know: https://www.3geez.com/forum/suspensio...tml#post785783

The routing looks the same as the 4th generation setup. Interesting.

Think I'll order the 4th gen, test it out. If it works, yay, if not then order a 6th gen.

I just ordered a ebay 4th gen intake, its a close fit but not great. I needs a few adjustments and the hole in the fenderwell needs to be cut to fit the intake pipe. just and fyi.

Ugh, no, do not want steel tubing. Too freaking heavy.

For $50 shipped it looks like I'll have 95% of the tubing needed to make a 4th or 6th gen Accord CAI work.

Re: Any easily modified Cold Air Intakes for the LXi?

you can get w/e tubing you want but that's the write up for it... also aluminum tends to dent to easy so steel is preferred for looks and strength, plastic radiates to much heat and you end up with more hot air, copper is to fn expensive....

So nobody has pics of how they modified a 4th or 6th gen Accord intake into the 3G?

thats for a stock intake not a cold air intake....
prolly gonna end up being a jy part but you could also just rig one up with the proper size rubber tubing and a couple hose clamps

Just get something like this, they are called intake couplers. You will probably need to get some adjustable hose claps to replace the factory ones. Next time start a new thread, or find one more closely related to your question.

I've heard the '94 Integra CAI fits without having to move too much around. I'm not even sure why it's '94 specifically, but they were all the rage a couple years back.

my bad. i realize now that i was taught all wrong...with the names of things. I'm new at this whole car thing. but i did end up finding that part in the junkyard. there was only one...out the hundreds of hondas that were there. and luckily it was in good shape. i snatched that thing up!!! and it will do until i can afford to modify my intake system...

i have used 2 CAI and both needed to be cut. the 90-93 teg one and a 90-93 accord one. the accord one is much straighter.
