    HELP! lxi or not?!

This car is for sale and I'm thinking of buying it because it's so very cheap. But I'm only willing to drop the $200 if it's an LXi so could someone verify this for me (the seller has no idea)

    It's an '86

Yeah it's a junkyard car, it's a total piece of crap but I need something to drive ASAP and there's no other cheap cars around in the sub-$200 price range.

The yard selling it also is trying to sell 100 other cars, they're not gonna go pop the hood for me.

If they wont pop the hood they obviously know that there are cars there that are fucked. So you already know that your taking your chances. 50/50. The next question you ask yourself is it is on a junk yard lot. Then your chances go down to 70/30. So it would be real safe to say at BEST the car you get would be running but you will probably have major repairs real soon. 500-1200 usd. Doesnt seem like youll be spending your 200 in the right place.

this is my suggestion. my dad works for a new car delarship. you should first go to new car dealerships, and ask if they have any wholesale cars. then if no luck go to the little corner car dealers. you know the ones that have 10 cars in the lot. and look pretty junky. and ask them if they have any cars for 200-300. i got a 92 ex sedan for 900 usd. nothing wrong with it. usally car dealerships pay 100-1300 for cars. anything leass then a 95 gets sent to the wholesalers. example the corner lot stores. they fix them up then sale them for 300 to 700 more. but you could get lucky. if you get a car this way you are bound to have better luck in the long run.

socal - They know the car is fucked up and I know the car is fucked up. It's for sale at a junkyard that collects junk cars from people who then use them as tax writeoffs. Some of them are in excellent shape, some of them are basically scrap metal. When cars come in the people that work on the yard check them out but after that they go up for auction and that's that. This one needs part of the rear suspension and it leaks oil, and who knows what else. It's a pretty honest company I've dealt with them before and know people who have bought cars from them. Anyway, I'm only looking for a car that I can drive into the ground for a couple of months. They also have an '89 DX sedan for the same price that seems to be in better mechanical condition.

I generally try to avoid dealerships as most of them around here have insane markups (1993 Ford Tempo! Only $4999!) but once in awhile you do find a good deal, you got an amazing one on a '92 EX!!! I don't think I've ever seen one listed privately for that much!!

ok i see youve did your research
yeah i got a great deal on it. my dad seen it at his dealership and they were going to sell it to the wholesalers but i snatched it from them before they could do that. but unfortunetly it became one with a tree and is no more.

good luck on finding a car. hope you get one that not to messed up.

I'm sure its an LX or an LX-i not a DX because the handles are the same color as the car is and on the DX I'm sure they are black.
