Dude I would start looking at ebay if you want cheap. Otherwise I would swap a nice motor from Japan in there. "Overnight parts from Japan."

If you want something real cheap try to find a jap engine importer and find yourself an A18, looks the same as an A20, just 0.2 liters smaller, but I think it makes roughly the same HP...different combustion chamber or cam profile or something.

The A18 makes less power then the A20 itd be like him having a 2geez. But you won't be able to save a lot of money with another A20, I think this is god telling you to get a B series engine. Don't get the B16 its a lot less responsive and you lose torque, B18 same deal but not as bad. You should get a B20a JDM speck at least. Just save up and though it out till you can afford it.

take out a freakin loan or something if you have to. The JDM B20 will kick ass... I dont know how hard it will be to get the H series in there but it will cost more... It's definitly a sign...

wait wait wait, are you sure that you blew the motor? Does the engine turn over? How does it sound while it's running (that is, if it runs)? If it sounds fine, then there's a chance that it's the tranny, and that's not as big of a deal.

damn man that sucks. Hey get in touch with Maurice (Coroncho), he's in the Philly area, and he was in the same boat you are about 2 months ago. Find out from him where he got his new engine from, if I remember correctly, he got a pretty good deal on it.

BTW, the A20A3 engine should work alright for you, you can just convert that carb engine over with ur fi parts from the original, and you should be good as new. (I'm no EFI 3G person, so this is all just a guess) All you'll need is ur old header, EFI stuff (intake manifold, wiring, fuel rail w/injectors, and some of the other good stuff, and you should be in business.

ummm... I think so. I'm not completly (+) now that you ask. I know that we have the 1 and 3 here in the states. I'm pretty sure that the 1 is FI and the 3 is Carb, but it may be the other way around. My brain hurts.

hey know what... I was 100% wrong. I was just perusing the board, and duh.... A20A1=carb. A20A3=EFI. OOps!!

Oh well, so then yeah, that A20A3 that you can get for 250; if it's in good condition, go for it, it's not a bad price at all. But if ur getting it from a j/y, ask them to do a compression test, and ask for a print out of the results. That way, you can make sure that you're getting full compression in all 4 cyl's.

So what is actually wrong with your "blown" motor anyways? How did it happened?
Good luck on your next engine, put your priorities straight, don't go getting a loan just to put another engine imho.

I got a little carried away when I saw the h22a DOHC w/ vtec..... If you can get that engine for $250 I think that would be the most pratical thing to do...
