    Re: My 86 Prelude Thread

Also painted the bumper moldings black to match the generic rubber moldings I got for the sides.

I prefer shaved look but the sides look too empty and weird without the rubber moldings especially near the wheel arches.

I'm actually 50-50 with the new look now. Oh well worst case I'll just color match them. Hey I paint cars for a living lol

I've often wondered if a painted black stripe instead of the rubber side molding would look ok on our cars. I might give it a try, worst that could happen is I have to put the rubber back on. You have a great looking car by the way

Also took the opportunity to spray my 3g Accord power folding mirrors while I'm at it.. They sorta fit but required a lot of trimming. Only 2 of the 3 bolt holes lines up but they're pretty sturdy so I'm not worried about it.

Whats needed to make them fit. Also reshaped the bottom curve to match the lude's door better

I'm pleased at how well they look like now. So much better than the factory oversized non folding crap .

Bad thing is, the folding mechanism doesn't work as the gears are stripped. How do you even strip metal gears really?? But I don't really care as the mirrors are free. And I'm keeping my eye on a pair of working mirrors so I can swap the internals into mine. The car was pre-wired for the mirrors when I did the paintjob before anyway so its all ready to go!

    Some glamour PICS

    Looks soooo much better now!

    Looking great still!
Not too surprised you painted the black rub-strips again. Black does look a little old fashioned & ordinary compared to body colour.
I like the lower number plate mounting as well, exposing your smoothed bumper.

    Re: My 86 Prelude Thread

Haven't posted in a while but I've added a couple of cool (cheap, or nearly free) stuff to the car recently

Added this LED under my side mirrors. They are hooked to my dome light which would come on when I disarmed the alarm enabling me to see things around the door area. They're normally found on newer cars.

    Re: My 86 Prelude Thread

I think the LEDs are too big. Gonna figure out how to make them sit flush or at least doesn't protrude out as much.

    But DAMN they are BRIGHT!

Also hooked my dome light to a dome light delay/fade circuit I made so instead of turning the lights off instantly when the doors are closed, they stay on and fade after a few seconds. Again, normally found on newer cars.

Sorry for the shitty pics and vids. They are taken with my phone.

Got rid of the silly green air filter which doesn't even match with anything LOL

I do have a plan for the stupid single carb. Just wait

    Re: My 86 Prelude Thread

Haven't posted an update in years (well maybe months but hey!!)

I've posted another thread about my bike carbs conversion (here) and its been running good. Went on ~800km trip and apart of my radiator fan motor decided to die in a rush hour traffic causing my temp goes up near the red line and freaking me out, everything works fine. Oh and my fuel pump decided to make a constant clicking noise like its starving for fuel when its not. The stock carb pump is supposed to click but not this loud! So theres 2 things that I replaced grrr.

Averaging around 25mpg highway on the trip (which is horrible if you ask me) but power wise OMG!! I can now step on the throttle while doing 110kph in 5th and it would goes up to 160 in no time without downshifting. Not that quick if you ask me but the old single carb was painfully slow sooo.

I did have a vid of me driving through a tunnel going WOT and the sound is just phenomenal!!

Met with some local lude guys with B16 2g and H22 swapped 3g and I can actually keep up with them. Not saying that I'm OMG-VTAKS-FAST but considering I'm lacking an extra cam and 4 additional valves with no fancy vtec stuff and how I spent like 1/8 of what they spent on their engine swap yeah I am quick enough LOL

I didn't get many pics from the meet for some reason but here's one stolen from someone else

Borrowed a wideband from a buddy of mine and my idle and WOT is spot on at 14.5:1 ish during idle and about 12:1 on WOT BUT my cruising AFR is HORRIBLE at 12:1 or sometimes even less at 11:1. Thats what been raping my fuel economy since I spent most of the time on cruise. I honestly expect to get at least 28mpg highway. Don't even ask what I get on town!! I did some further adjustments on the carb needle and only managed to get around 13.8-14:1 on cruise which isn't too bad but I expect high 14's. Apparently the carbs that I have are known for wearing its emulsion tubes prematurely and doesn't meter the fuel properly anymore especially on cruising range. Which sucks balls!! I have yet to see how far the full tank of petrol gets me but

I'm not expecting too much of an improvement than before.

Anyway carbs aside, I've made few changes/additions to the car. Made a cloth insert for my door panel as the vinyl is peeling/wrinkling and looking ugly af. Mint door panels are so hard to come by - they all do the same so

Yeah I've got that aftermarket steering wheel back on. Kinda like it at first but then I've decided that the 3g wheel felt way better so its back on again LOL

    Re: My 86 Prelude Thread

I've got this electronic navigation/EQ console that I hacked to fit my 7" tablet

I had the stock single DIN console that I hacked the ashtray out to fit the tablet.

The new console was blue so I had to paint it to match the rest of the interior. The color is weird being green-ish dark grey which is a bitch to match so I just made my own color and color matched the whole under dash part lol

    My seats are torn though

Can't decide if I should just get the stock ones recovered or find other factory seats to fit which

gonna cost the same but then the fabric won't match. Or get some aftermarket shit ($$$$) dunno yet.

Then I was getting so sick of my crooked shifter so something needed to be done about it!

Before. It's in neutral.. not 4th
