i am changing my old clutch out in my a20a3 engine......the release arm was hard with the worn-out clutch, but when we put in the new clutch, the release arm was really easy to move up.....now that we have spent 4 days straight putting the car back together, the car will not go into gear at ALL. i push in the loose clutch and it won't allow it to go into gear. YES, we tighten the clutch cable as far as we can....so we know it has to do with the release arm, but we don't know what we did wrong.... we are trying to find out the problem, but please give me imput if you have any idea what the problem might be......thanks

um id say that the release arm is on worng or you forgot to put the throwout bearing on or on right.

or the clutch could be on worng...

you should not be able to move the release arm by hand easy if not at all

i am stuck and need to know how to fix the release arm before i tear the block apart again!!!!????

did you change just the disc and the pressure plate ?

i changed the disc, pressure plate and new flywheel.....it all lined up and i am almost exactly sure that it is the right parts..i am tearing it back apart saturday, but i have no idea what to look for......

This doesn't make sense. If the lever moves freely then lets look at our options. 1.Its not moving the release fork and is broke. 2. You have no throwout bearing or the spring snapped and the bearing isn't in position. 3. There is no pressure plate. 4. You have something wayyyyyyyyyyyy out of line. Lets go through the steps here. When you press on the clutch that should pull the lever up and move the fork .....release bearing should make and break contact against the fingers on the pressure plate as you press in and out on the clutch .....if no pressure is felt then the bearing isn't contacting the pressure plate.

You didn't put a 1.8 flywheel and clutch in did you?

i think it is the release fork......it must be, i just talked to a mechanic and he is going to help me out, thanks guyz...
