    A20A factory specifications

Forgive me if this has already been answered somewhere else in the forums, I did search first before asking...

Can someone please tell me the factory specifications (SOHC/DOHC, vavles/cyl (# intake/# exhaust), crank hp/tq, etc) of the various A20A motors? Oh, and what year/model the motors came in would be handy too as I'm looking into an A20A for my turbo '83 Accord project.

    Check it out:

    Thanks in advance,
    Dan

All A20's are SOHC 12 valve engines, with 2 intake valves and 1 exhaust valve

    specs are:

    86-89 BS/A20A1 (carb'd) -- 8.8:1 CR, 98 hp, 109 ft. lbs torque
    86-87 BT/A20A3 (EFI) -- 8.8:1 CR, 110 hp, 114 ft. lbs torque
    88-89 A20A3 (EFI) -- 9.3:1 CR, 120 hp, 122 ft. lbs torque

I'm going off memory here, so if I made a mistake someone please correct me

    Thanks Jared.

I've never seen a designation like BS/A20A1 or BT/A20A3. What do the "BS" and "BT" prefixes mean?

BS (carb'd) and BT (EFI) were for 1986 models only, and some 87's as well (leftover engines from '86). The engines were the same as the later A20's, they just hadn't adopted the A20 name yet

I was thinking the same thing, I couldn't find a FAQ with this information and I figure it must be asked at least somewhat often on this board.

    Thanks for the help,
    Dan

Has everyone seen KMS Engine Development's A20A powered Civic that apparently beats up on V8 SCCA cars?

320 horsepower from a naturally aspirated A20A. Keep in mind that the old Civics weigh approximately 2,000 lbs.

89lxi95zx7, what has been posted above is already correct. Don't know what you are referring to.
