    New to this forum...

Big Hello to everyone from the depth of Indonesia. I am new to this forum and actually new to the Honda Accord models. My name is Gabe and my interest is to restore old vehicle, and I have taken the particular interest in this one (see the pictures), but although it says on the back of the car that it is an Honda Accord, I was unable to find what is the type and year of this Accord! Would anyone confirm that it is a Honda Accord and what is the type and year of manufacture? Unfortunately I cannot provide any other information as I do not own the vehicle yet, but if parts are easily available I will certainly take up the painful and long task of restoring little Japanese.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Honestly, I see no resemblance in your photos to a Honda Accord. So, I can only conclude it is not an Accord and the trunk ornaments that say Honda and Accord were probably put there as a sort of trick or disguise to make unknowing persons think it is an Accord.

And, again in all honesty and based on the appearance of the vehicle in the photos, I cannot imagine attempting to restore such a vehicle. Of course, I am just expressing my perspective. Others may have a different opinion.

I think it is a heavily modified first generation Hatchback. Looks like they tried to convert it into a coupe. Does it have a vin# anywhere?

I see strange pixilization when I break up the pic. If it is legit pic it must be a eastern European make or Renault, or maybe some knd of Mitsubishi judging by the fender contours that follow the car front to back.

I'm with Legend. It looks like a first generation Accord coupe conversion with lots of extra body flourishes thrown in for good measure. Based on the taillights, it's a '78-79 model year. It's going to cost you a bundle to restore and I doubt that it will have much value when you're done. While it looks like most of the modifications are skin deep, I would go over everything very carefully before diving in. You don't want to buy it and then find out that the previous owner removed half the front subframe to make his cool front end fit.

    Caveat emptor.

    And welcome!

    Re: New to this forum...

It's a definitely the trunk and tailights and the rear valiance from a 1st gen Accord. The wheels are the big dead giveaway though that this IS an Accord underneath. Those are unmistakeably 1g Accord wheels with the 120mm PCD. There is no way that somebody went to the trouble of swapping on Accord hubs or spindles just so they could use those wheels. The doors are definitely from a hatchback, but the trunk is definitely from a 4 door. The Windshield is definitely Accord as well as that cowling just below the windshield. Overseas, even the later models had those tails, so it could be up to an 81.

I'm going to guess that it started out as a 4 door, judging on the overhang from the rear wheels to the trunk. The 4 door models were a bit longer. Or it's a little bit of both cars... so hard to say really though...

What the hell is that thing?! I personally wouldn't bother trying to fix that. Getting the custom parts made for it like the glasses for example, since none of the stock Accord glasses would fit aside from the front windshield.. would be hard and expensive. Looks like the doors were cut and extended too. And the roof is just.. what.

And yes that is definitely a 1st gen 4 door Accord or at least it used to. Hatchbacks have a smaller fuel filler door

So, the consensus seems to be that it is a 1st generation Accord. I'll say again, it looks way beyond being a feasible restoration project. If you're seriously thinking about delving into restoration of it, you must have a lot of time - and money - to waste. At this stage, it's almost just a bucket of rust.

Hi all and thank you very much for all your imput, and yes thanks to you you are saving me a lot of time and a lot of money! Being in Indonesia things here are fairly cheap, but people here knows how to mask things very well, and after further investigation the entire car is a made up projects from bit of other Accord from 4 doors to 2 doors. The amount of work does not scare me but finding anything for that (I don't know what to call it) would be very costly and time consuming (providing that I find anything for it!) So I drop the idea for that car and got myself something a little more feasible another Accord from the 80... Again thank you guys for all your help and I will surely continue posting to let you the development of my new project.

Glad you didn't buy that, it would have been a giant project. Looks like you got another 1st gen, but I've never seen one with a square headlights. That is a much better start for a project. Make sure to post pictures as you make progress.
