***Question about Lights on 86-89 Accords***

I was wondering? I have my crashed up 89 Accord LX-i still sitting in my driveway, and I was planning on buying it's either an 86 or 87 Accord. Now the thing is, I like the tail lights off my 89 LX-i and was wondering if I could swap mine to the 86-87 Accord, and I know the taillights differ slightly from the 86-87 Accords and wanted to know if i could swap the 89 tail lights to the 86-87, and also wanted to know if I could also swap my bumper clears to the 86-87 Accord??? Please help me out with this one. Although I'm pretty sure this can be done withought a problem, but was just curious... Thanks guy's Lataz.

get a 88-89!!!! you will regret it if you dont... I wish everyday that I would have gotten an 88-89 Lx-i or anything with fuel injection.... the bumper signals from 88-89 will not fit on the 86-87.. you need to swap the entire bumper...

no big deal I have an 89LXI bumper so I can do a swap. Ok, so can I swap the tail lights or not? Also the Accord I saw today I belive was an 87 but it was an LX 5speed, but didn't look under the hood, but would it be fuel injected or not, I'm pretty sure it's carb, but just wanna double check. aight let me know the info, thanks alot bro lataz.

another question I must ask is.... ok I talked to the guy who's selling the car, now it's an LX like mentioned above at the post, and it's a 5 speed standard transmision, now the only problem is it won't go into 5th gear, or won't work in 5th gear, is that gonna be a problem, or can I still drive it like that? and also the car is being sold for $450.00 and he put in a new radiator, new brakes, new tires and I think it's a good deal, I think I might go 4 it, why not right?

if its an lx its carbed ...you can drive it without 5th gear ...if you do alot of highway driving it may be bit of a problem... 450 dosent sound to bad....how many miles ?

it's got 183,000 miles on it.... I think 450.00 is a fair price.... do u think I should go for it.... as soon as I laid my eyes on it, I felt like I was falling in love with a 3rd gen all ova again.... LOL I want her, but u think I should take her?

Keep searching, man. Try to get an 88-89 LXi. However, it's your money and I can't tell you how to spend it. To answer your question, you could just swap the trunk lids. I'm sure they'll fit cuz I have seen someone do it before. He swapped an 88-89 trunk lid to an 86-87. I can't remember if it was this board or the old board.

if you had more money i would search around for a 88-89 lxi or sei....if money is tight ...i say go for the 450 dollar car

Pearldrop did the 88-89 swap onto his car. Ask him, I think it's just the lids.

What about the side lights on an 86 or 87 LX? Can I swap an 89 LX-i side lights on the fenders to an 86 or 87 LX? Just wondering, cuz I like the clear & Orange ones better than just the plain old orange side lights... Let me know sum info if you have n e... Thanks... I should be getting the Accord LX either on Monday or Tuesday afternoon... I hope I do can't wait, Well I still don't wanna get my hopes up ya know, but theres a good chance I'll be getting it... I have one (87) and like I said before I would rather have an 88-89 Lxi or Se-i... you will regret not haveing fuel Injection and all of the other things that the 88-89 has ... thats all I have to say... but being that you have already made up your mind... you can ask any questions that you want and wqe'll try to help out.. be prepaired to post a lot in the Carb Tech section...
