I wanna move my power to the low-end. Will advancing the time about 5 degrees accomplish this?
How do i advance the timing? *embarassed*

To advance the timing, LOOSEN the 3 distributor bolts until you can turn the distributor. Set up your timing light as per instructions. Start engine. Point timing light, see where your timing is at stock. Then turn the distributor towards the firewall. This will advance your timing. How many degrees you might want, I'm not sure.
You can advance the distributor without a timing gun by marking the distributor and the flange first, then advancing it until you hear knocking, then back down a tad.

You'll also need to run higher octane gas. 91/93 is good.
Cool, thanks guys

Check for knocking at high revs too. Even if the idle is good when the distributor advances itself for high revs you may get some knocking. I'm pretty sure, but not certain. Someone please correct me if I'm spreading lies.

dn't forget to disconect the vacume advance. Also buy a timing gun they are with the 50 bucks or so for a good one.
oh i don't wanna be an ass but you are all wrong.
advencing timing on distributor will not move power to low end. it will make spark plug work better at higher RPM.
to make your car wrok better at low RPM you will have to get adjustible cam gear. than you can advence it by +3(i think it is max) and it should shift your power band into lower RPM. But remmeber, you will not be able to get performance out of high rpm.
good luck.
Alex.
If i advance my timeing wont it give better lowend power?? ANd when you retard the timing you get more @ topend!!! Isnt this correct??? Some one that knows please let me know if im right!!!

Yes, it doesn't move your powerband but it does give you more peep at low end if you advance the timing a few degrees and vice versa (for highway perhaps, or dragging). Cheap torque but you must pump higher octane gas.
make sure you people understand that timing i was talking about is not distributor timing. it is the cam gear timing.
Alex.
Alex : i think they are talking about ignition timing because it's easy to advance !
