CAH: 1995 Accord DX .. Project DE RICE

It's not a 3gee. but at least it is an accord? lol got this for $575. sitting on 2 flat tires...1 rim was a space saver with a full size tire stretched on it (tire stretching your doing it wrong) and 1 rim completely missing lol...
Pics the night i bought it
the head lights and tail lights were not tinted...they were seriously spray painted

Engine is mint. carfax shows it had 103k miles in 2009...im assuming under 150k (cluster was swaped in 2012 IIRC it had 112)

scored headlights at a garage sale and black housed them

    then i slammed it

slaming it may of been a bad idea as i tore the bumper off

back to stock im a bitch and dont plan on daily driving slammed again (need a project car!)

time to fix the front end

I did one of those rebar "strut bars" when I was like 16.Stick welded right across the car like that. To many jumps made the struts pop into the hood.

    CAH your still too much.

well...this one was basically just had bent l brackets screwed over it lol...was done by previous owner..

    bad news...
turning on to my street i managed to hit thick ice and of coarse slid in to a curb...damage looks bad car def is not driving straight. has no brakes. was going a bit to fast..but the ice being a down slope escalated the speed more. thankfully there was no cars around and no one got injured...will be tearing down the car tomorrow to see the extent of damage...i know the lip of the rim is shattered (thankfully the tire did not come off the bead), and pushed back toward the fender and turned a different direction..no body damages and air bags didnt deploy thankfully....hoping the frame is still straight but not counting on it...this sucks =/

Re: CAH: 1995 Accord DX .. Project DE RICE

new subframe, lower control arm, spare tire, rack and pinion, radius rod , some modifications and she was back on the road. yesterday i got around to changing the original stuck open thermostat, original shredded alternator belt, and replaced the original radiator with a civic half rad. gets up to operating temp quick now (yay heater) and runs cooler once it gets there (under half instead of over)

first off i got a new muffler from the junkyard. friend got it for me for helping him replace the engine on his 7MGTE turbo mk3 supra

then i practice painted my replacement rear door and installed it. paint came out pretty good for being my first time using a real paint gun. but a bunch of sand and leaves got in it due to the windy weather here...so gonna sand it down and shoot the whole car in a friends workshop . but this is the colour the car will be!

shitty pic but installed some guages that were given to me. going to get a metal plate and re do them. right now its just held in with a piece of plastic that was ugly so i covered it in cameo duckt tape lol..redneck style!

cheapo parts lol better then original. will go with a fail safe thermostat when i do the water pump and timing belt. on a tight budget and wanted a heater!

just waiting to put it on an alignment rack next month. see how that goes and everything goes well ill be investing a good chunk of money in to getting her in better shape...if all goes bad then im selling it and getting a cheap early 2000s car like a corolla or neon as my daily and getting some RWD project car lol

also installed the hood pins BITESIZE sent me for my 3gee back in 2007 lol my hood latch is fucked and ive replaced it 3 times. the cable twice. and got tired of fucking with it and worrying about my hood slamning my new windscreen ...function >form ?

Re: CAH: 1995 Accord DX .. Project DE RICE

Hold on a minute. You painted that car? You painted it? As in, CAH of the crusty rattle can job painted that car? All I can say is "WOW!" Very impressive. You got skilz bro. With a little more cutting and buffing, it will look like a shop did it. Excellent work on masking off. I can't see overspray anywhere. No runs or other BS. Next time, just shave the door mouldings entirely though. The bits still hanging on detract from the great work you did. Consider getting a paintless dent puller and getting handy with the Bondo and you'll be able to open a shop before you know it.

Just make sure you always wear a good (expensive) respirator when you do paint work. Don't use the crappy disposable dust masks when you sand. They are useless. Paint is incredibly toxic and you have to take every precaution or you'll wreck your health and not be able to do anything. I have a 3M 7500 series mask that I use almost daily. For any kind of dust work (sanding, sawing, demolition, mold exposure), I use the P100 round, pink dust cartridges on it. Paints and petrochemical solvents, pesticides, etc. get an Organic Vapor cartridge. Pet odors and rotting things get an Acid Gas cartridge. Anything I'm not sure about gets a Multi-Gas cartridge (combination of Organic Vapor and Acid Gas) with the integrated P100 dust screen. Do your research and understand the different kinds of exposures and the right cartridge for each.

Seriously, use a respirator for any kind of toxic exposure. I use a respirator when I clean my house with regular cleaning solutions. Health is too easily lost and too hard to get back. My dad and uncle were waaaay too macho to use respirators when they were younger. Dad died young after years living in the most deplorable health with frequent hospital stays and tons of meds. Uncle is heading out in the same way too. It's not worth it just to be cool and not use a respirator.

Back on topic, that's an excellent paint job!
