Case of the studdering car HELP

Allright, when I am in drive, and I am at a complete stop my cars rpms go to like 500 or less, and the car almost dies. Then when I press the gas to go it studders and studders, then has a surge of energy and goes (but doing so it practically dies). So I tightened the throttle cable, which was pretty slack, and that fixed my gas pedal that seemed loose. I was told it could be my alternator, anyone else have any ideas?

I would tune it up the engine and replace the fuel filters. If it's still running bad, we can eliminate those from the list and give you more suggestions.

Check your timing, and check to see how it idles on a cold day when you start it right away, if it idles low it could be your idle. My car was doing that exact same thing.

i's not timing because when it is cold it does not do the studder ting, it's after it is warmed up. I will have it in to get a tune up by the end of the week. So I will be able to get back to you guys.
