    just don't buy the sender from the auto parts store, I never found one with the ohm range that matched the specs

    Exactly as snooz recommended, probe the sensor and turn the key on. You can monitor with clip leads and see if the voltage increases as the engine warms up ( resistance of the sensor should fall as temperature increases) and try correlating that to your dash temperature "reading".

    you ever think your multi meter(s) are not calibrated correctly / test procedure incorrect / or bad terminal / lead connections? Never had an issue with my 179 fluke, 87-V fluke or my blue point DMM or finding a sensor in range.
