Southeast Meet

I've noticed a lot of new members have joined, and a great deal seem to be in the Southeast. With the existing members, that means we should have a decent turnout for a meet in the SC/GA area.

My suggestion would be Savannah. Ideally, the meet will be early Fall, but these things take time to plan. A lot of people have to get people to cover shifts, and the more time they have, the better.

Another suggestion would lead to less turnout, but would provide great pictures and provide us with a ton of things to do would be Orlando.

With that said, let's get something going.

I want to avoid Atlanta, but I want somewhere we can take good pictures. I want to make this a meet as big and cool as the West Coast meets, so we need cool locations. Where would you want pictures? Urban pics, maybe by the beach? I'm an abandonment photographer by hobby, so I can find locations for pics fairly easily.

I'm also not sold on any particular location.

Do we need activities? I've done meets that didn't have anything planned, and they seemed boring. We could go to Valdosta and reenact scenes from Zombieland.

The next question would be when the meet should be. It would be great if we could hold off until the temps start dropping, so we're looking at September to October. I have a major race to attend the last weekend of September, so that's out. For me to attend, it would ideally be October or later, or sooner than the end of August. I would have a better chance having my 3gee street legal after the race, but I have no problem attending in another vehicle.

wow, you're 3.5 hours from Savannah which is unbelievable since it is 3 hour for me too. Must be the interstate.

I didn't realize Zombieland was shot in Valdosta, so was that Wild Adventures they used for the amusement park scenes?
Im going to have to watch that tonight again.

Wild Adventures was the park, most of the outdoor travelling scenes were in the Northwest GA area.

I knew about some of the North Atlanta area shots, at least I was watching Pass Time and that host guy mentioned he worked as an extra. That may have been the other zombie movie where they are stuck in a truck stop and they try to outrun a nuke blast.

About the time the heat breaks off would be good for me, I would drive an Accord then.

About 6 hours to savannah for me..sounds good...as long as we make it a few day meet..at least 2.

Charleston is gorgeous also there is Folly beach, lots of places in the area that look cool.

I agree. Weekend of the 20th and 21st in October? Now we need to figure out a location. One of the main things I want is a cool photoshoot. I know of a cool place in Savannah, I'll just have to check to see what's going on there that weekend.

I'm also thinking about pushing this back so we have more time to plan. Since I'm planning on a weekend meet, I think we need more time to find lodging and such.

How much are you guys willing to spend on a place to sleep? My wife and I want a room of our own, but we're not terribly budget constrained. Obviously if you guys share rooms, we can bring the cost down.

So, how much are you willing to spend for a night of climate control and a comfy bed?

100 a night sounds about a place to start.. hopefully less.that's with a nice conti breakfast so that saves that meal expense.

I was stressing out already, the LX will not be ready by mid Oct. not even in primed form Im thinking. It is too hot to work on it, we need some more cool temps like week before last!!
I went to pullapart Sat. morning, early, but not early enough I thought I was going to die before I got the RT front knuckle off a car. It came off easy, heh there were no cottor pins in any of the joints the axle nut came off quick too. I was pouring sweat like a garden hose, it was soooo muggy and the sun felt like it was like 6 ft from my head. I got home, took a shower and didn't hit another lick the rest of the weekend.
