I've noticed my key hole on the trunk is different from most other 3gees i see. I know there is two diffrent styles of lights for the inside part the(license plate part). But are the outside ones universal through the yrs. 86-89?

i believe they are still slightly different. the outside lamps. they arent the same on all of em. 86-87 same. 88-89 i think had a slightly different design and had 2 different styles. i need to know this also for when i get another 3gee.

i can tell you that they are different i went to the junkyard to get a tail lamp assembly because some jackass wanted to break my lamp at night and i just thoght that it would fit 86-89 but it doesnt for some strange reason the 86 style doesnt curve as much as the 88 89 style to save yourself the hassle get the one that goes on your year.
