changing odometer

Well I need to change my milage reading so how do i turn the odometer numbers? I tried to do it, but i could not. It wont even more and it just scratches on the dials. Anywayz, my aunt's odometer is stuck too, it ticks, but wont turn. during the winter it never turns, but in summer, it slowly turns, showing a mile when actually u have gone 2 miles. Thanks.

note to smartasses, dont tell me to drive backwards so the odometer will go backwards

It's ILLEGAL to EVEN MESS with the odometer!!!

That's not a good thing to even touch, you could get in big trouble...

If the odometer is stuck, then try a lubricant. This is what happened to Erika's car. The mileage would not roll when reset (trip-meter not odometer). I lubricated it with a little WD40 and it has been flawless since. If you want to use a dry lubricant, I would recommend a silicone lubricant available from any auto parts store. I find that Kent Lube works the best, however at $30 a can, it's not cheap.

dosher, i know about the legal stuff. The reason i have to roll mine back is cause of the different gauge from the conversion is like 20K miles more than my actual milage, so i want to roll it back to my original milage on my new one.

hey ELM how about Lithium grease? would that work? I got some spray on lubricant and WD40 And some liquid wrench, i will them and see if they can rool on. THis is for the J30t, which is my aunt's car. Thanks anywayz.

Have you thought about just swapping the speedo part of the gauges into your new one??

I think I read somewhere that if you try to move the numbers they will not function properly afterwards.

your dealing with a 13 year old car and unless you have mystical unicorn honda that yor gradmother only drove on sundays and only has 35,000 miles on it, you probley have well over 100k on it so what would it really matter to roll it back. as long as you know it's 20k less is all that matters. when I got my '87 milage was not a factor. I think you should just forget about it.

Mileage is an important factor. Get another cluster or drive in reverse for 20k

can i do that? I did not know if could be able to swap the speedo part from the carb to the efi gauge.

Well a while ago i broke my needles on my cluster. So i got a new one with less miles. then i took out the thinge that counts how many miles and swaped them with my old one!

hmmmm thats quite interesting, i guess i will do that then. Thanks guys, and for my aunt, i guess i will just spray some Wd 40 and then some spray lube on it.
