    Question Adjusting valves?!?!

I was just about to adjust my valves when I realized that I was an idiot and left my Bible (Chilton's Manual) in my storage. So I was wondering what I adjust my valves to? I have an '89 Honda Accord LX-i. Thanx:pimp:

The intakes should be around 0.005-0.007 and the exhaust side should be around 0.010-0.012

Get a set of "Go-no-Go" feeler gauges. Makes it super easy. On my set there is a .005-.007 and a .010-.012. Hard to explain why they are so nice, but it gives you an easy way to get the adjustment in the range without having to pick either extreme.

Also, from my experience, 15K is way too often to check them. They just don't get out of adjustment that often. I do mine about every 25K, or when the valve cover gasket leaks. Last time only three out of the 12 needed adjustment and even those weren't off by enough to have justified the effort if I had not needed to change the V/C gasket.

Our van with the 2.3L VTEC motor states in the shop manual to adjust the valve lash "only when noisy."

no matter what any manual tells you, always go by the valve clearance specs on the sticker on the underside of the hood, itll never steer you wrong, unlike some haynes/chiltons manuals
