not much to update on recently but did find a leak where the thermostat housing meets the head so i ordered a new gasket and got the thermostat gasket instead of the surface gasket but since it was 2 bucks i kept it and ordered the right one as well. im glad i did cuz it was ready to go... so thats in already and the new one should be going in wednesday. then im throwing it all back together, refilling the radiator, driving around with less atf, and bleeding the coolant system. just to be sure to blled the coolant i need to let it warm up real good, and while its running loosen the bleeder screw until the stream soming out is 100% water correct?

    Re: 88lxi-shortram's 88 lXI

ok well today i got the timing light out and checked it... its perfect ... now onto the next thing, i need new terminals because mine are too loose so idk if it has anything to do with it but heres the next problem im having. the car will finally idle by itself after it starts up (sometimes i have to keep it from dying at the begining but after that it idles great), but when i rev it up it acts like it dies then revs up... instead of revving it goes blank and then revs but its a rough rev until about 2.5-3k. also when i drive it it sometimes backfires and doesnt really want to go any higher than 3k but when i let off and get back on the gas it goes higher. also today when i got on it and got it up towards 4.5k i let off and it died off. luckily me and my friend had a jumpbox handy so we got back on the road and back to the shop ok. but this has led me to believe i have a fuel pressure problem which could involve my regualtor. im not sure though and would like opinions from others so any input is great guys thx in advance for those of you who are actually following me and helping me.

Yea I know it's rare but I've never been to fond of it lol. Even though it's rare it's not really Gonna make the value skyrocket anyways. Lol I'd rather have this black tint than have the old orange one with a destroyed windshield

    Re: 88lxi-shortram's 88 lXI

ok i went in and redid every last broken wire the other day to try to stop that sputtering hesitation. i regapped my plugs to 35 and semi-fixed my sticky throttle. also the reverse drop problem has been resolved as well thank god. the car drives better now that i redid the wires with crimping connectors and re gapped the plugs but it still has the sputtering hesitation. BUT its only when im driving and let off the gas and let it return to a normal idles while cruising and then get back on the gas slowly. im starting to think its time for a new rotor in my dizzy. so thats the to fix list for now but heres some good news... i got my springs on the day after i got them and the car sits perfect. its low but doesnt rub tires and doesnt scrape. its not bouncy and rides way better than expected so thats a plus. also started looking for insurance so i can get on the road w/o having fears of cops and found a small company that will insure me for 750 for 6 months. thats pretty decent since im 18 the cars in my name and nobody else is on my coverage plan. now it emmisions time and tag time and then............... road time ... ill post pics of the car after the rain clears up. i have a bad phone pic to give you an idea but ill have to post later on today.

have you ever taken out the distributor and just took it apart and clean/lube it up, made a huge difference in my Lxi...
that pick up plate inside it is suspended on a ball bearing slide deal...

also sounds like a voltage check at the TPS output is needed.

how do you take off the tps anyways... i was going to switch throttle bodies and it looks like theyre riveted on there...anyway ive never disassmebled the distributor. ive never really thought about it but i may try it. got any advice on doing that by the way? also when i do the voltage test what should it read? i just got a new multimeter so this will be an excuse to play with it.

U can take out the brass bushings on the tps an you set it closed at .5 volts an wot 4.5 at wot. If u can't get it in spec an it jumps around when your doing it, it needs replacing
