    Group Buy: B20A Gaskets 2013

Okay guys I know I'm relatively new here and definitely quiet and keep to myself, with the exception of a few people I talk to. With that being said I have been quietly trying to find someone to supply us with B20A gasket sets for quite a while now since I have a B20A myself.

I have found an importer that used to carry AJUSA gaskets when they were stocked by parts houses in the United States and they are willing to Import them for us. The only catch is the minimum order is 25 sets so I want to put it up as a group buy and see if we can get the minimum order at least and save everyone a few dollars compared to trying to buy them individually from overseas one way or the other.

What I would do is set up a separate PayPal / Bank account so the funds will be there when we get the minimum order since it has to be prepaid for them to order it. I know some people are tight on money and it may take them a few weeks or a month to pay for a set or two or three etc. whatever your planing on getting. I propose that you can pay into the PayPal account weekly or however you get paid until your items are paid for and I will keep track in this post of what has been ordered and what's been paid and is still owed. I plan on getting 2 sets myself and will deposit that money into the account immediately. I am also willing to buy a couple more sets if we get close to 25 to make it happen. Cost is $120 per set to get them to my house and assuming they will fit into a Large Priority mail flat rate box that's another $16.95 for shipping to you in the continental US to bring it to a grand total of 136.95. Overseas I'll have to work that out per person when I have them for shipping.

Only the $120 per set is due to get the order taken though and it is a 3 TO 4 MONTH LEAD TIME so it's not going to be placed next week and be here in a few days. Just want to mention the lead time so everyone is on the same page and realizes this is going to take a while to get here. I may be able to find a cheaper avenue for shipping once in hand since I don't know weight or dimensions yet though so it's hard to say. I'm not trying to make money off of this but I don't want to lose money either so I do need to cover for shipping and PayPal fees, if there are any, and such.

Guy, (2oodoor) who is a good friend, posted a feeler in another thread to see if there was any interest and there seemed to be a pretty fair amount so sorry if this seems redundant but we wanted to make sure we had people wanting them before it went up as a group buy. The gasket set would be AJUSA part# 50131200. Here is their web address Ajusa put in the part number 50131200 to search and that will pull up a listing of what it fits etc if you are unsure. You can also see a picture of it on their website.

    My questions are:

1.) Are you interested in getting a set(s) and paying all at once?
2.) Are you interested in getting a set(s) on a payment plan / layaway for lack of a better term?
3.) Are you interested but can't afford a set right now but may want a set in the future if I have them available?

I DO NOT want any ones money until we know there's enough people to do this as a group buy. Another words I don't want to be holding onto your money for 6 months before we have enough people and then you have to wait another 3 to 4 months before their in the states. If you have the money now and you're comfortable with having your money tied up that long with the possibility that we don't get enough people to do this GB then that's okay, I'll get it set up, PM me and I'll get you details on payment. Then if we don't get the minimum I will refund you every cent. If a lot of people want or need to do the layaway type deal I'm okay with that but the order won't be placed until all the money is collected or at least within a reasonable amount. Again there's no guarantee we will get the minimum of 25, and your money will be refunded if we don't, but I think me and Guy are both willing to buy an extra set if we get to say 22 sets and stall out.

Thanks for your time and reading I hope we can make this happen.

Steve (Apache07x) is a good friend and Im sure other Florida members who have met him can vouch fir his integrity.
I plan on buying several sets of these to help this GB be successfull, and to ease my mind on keeping my engine going in case the head needs work or etc.
Most here that I know of who have this engine are rational and patient so the fact this could take several months shouldn't be too big a deal.
I don't think a whole lot of these were ever initially kept in stock anywhere so US liquidation houses likely don't have any.

I am in for a 2 or 3 sets, depending on when the timing for this happens. I have one of the AJUSA gasket sets here sealed, do you want measurements for fitting in a box?

Yes measurements and weight would be great. Especially for the couple of people that are not in the U.S. and would like a more concrete price on their shipping costs.

    THANKS

You're right Guy not a lot of places did stock these, ever.

I know the place Two Loud used to get his at is all out and will not get them anymore. When I spoke to them on the phone they said it was too much of a hassle for them to import from AJUSA and they didn't carry any other brand for the B20A.

You gotta wonder why they had them in the first place though? Part of a general stock order from ajusa's entire line for imports? I made an assumption but since everthing is not on the web that is missing research lol
That part number is not bringing up much, you would think if it were part of a lot or pallet up for auction or clearing house it would show up on a search.

Everywhere I have found them online has been overseas and usually out of stock, backordered etc. Does make you wonder how any ever were stocked here unless it's like you say Ajusa made theirvvendors take a bit of everything like it or not. May be why the place here in Florida won't order from them anymore?

    Looks like this so far:

    Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Well after I went and looked at the feeler thread, Guy (2oodoor) posted, the number of sets people want looks better. I've decided that I'll make up the difference if everyone confirms and pays so we can get this going. I realize everyone probably doesn't have the money all of a sudden and all at once like this and it may take a month or two to get it together and that's fine. In all honesty that will give me a chance to make up the difference as well plus give others a chance to see this and get in on this GB it if they want to.

I have the PayPal set up now and it is completely separate from my personal account.

If you want to pay the PayPal information is [email protected]

Of course put it in the notes your ID here and what it's for so there's record of it. Plus it helps me keep it straight on who got what and whats been paid to date etc. Don't gift it, send it for goods and I'll cover the fees, your also covered by PayPal that way. If your paying all at once and feel more comfortable being invoived PM me with your email and I will invoice you. Either way works for me. Remember that CRP is telling me a 3 to 4 month lead time for them to get here but we have to pay up front to get it done.

I personally know first hand how hard it is to get B20A parts and with that said I think you should try to tap into the prelude market to get your buy in. I would participate in this buy as well if i didn't stock up before they became so scarce. But i would check out preludepower as well since i have seached and sold to other B20A enthusiasts. I use to buy from Japan direct and when that dried up I picked up a number of head gaskets from New Zealand as that was the only place I could find them. I did as well pick up an AJUSA set and its in my stock pile of parts.

Thanks for the suggestion. Went over to prelude power and asked a moderator if I could post a link to over here so we'll see. I'm not real active over there but hopefully he'll let me.

There are only a handful of them over there and most are overseas but I'm sure someone will want a set. So is the $120 shipped or is shipping extra?

The 120 is their estimate to get them here in the US. Hopefully that will be all but I know it's at least the 120. A flat rate box is 16.95 worst case scenario and if it's more than the 120 initially I guess I'll eat the initial cost since that's what I've told everyone.

B20a auto, never was on this site unless it was a lurker but the car wound up with an average joe and who's to say it didn't wind up at pull a part by now? These gaskets will sell on the net if not here, i feel completely safe buying a handfull .

Yeah I feel safe buying several. Got to figure with just the people on here that have B20A motors need gaskets at some point unless they get rid of them. I may never even need a set but I'll have them if I do. Internals will fit out of other motors but they don't do any good if you can't seal it up and I don't really want to stroke mine to a B21 to use that head gasket I like to have some gas mileage. Not even sure an oil pan gasket fits off of those anyways and I'd still be stuck using silicone. I also saw one down here that had a B21 in it that I never saw on this site.

    Got it measured

    21x11
2 inches at it's thickest I'd say to be safe. 1.6lbs.

Thanks. That will definitely fit in a large flat rate box. So $16.85 in the contiguous 48. Only have to work out the ones that don't fall into that category which is 2 at this time.

Exactly what comes in this kit? Is it a full engine gasket set? If so, I'll be down for one, just have to wait until I get paid on July 5th.

Also, since you're in Winter Haven, any issue if I save the $17 and just ride down and pick it up when the time comes? Good excuse to get on the bike and have a bite to eat in O-town

Pretty much every gasket possible and even the prelude igniter which is a must have to start the B20A. I didn't need to use all of the gaskets when I did mine but its peace of mind knowing that they are there

As bullard said it is a complete set. I confirmed this last week with the supplier just to double check and make sure. It's the same brand that is pictured in this thread. I don't mind at all if you want to come pick them up and save the money on shipping. Less work I'll have to do packing them up lol.

Ok, that sounds good. I have a blacktop B20A in storage that'll be getting a full rebuild (and likely this k26 turbo sitting on my shelf) sometime over next
