Re: Blueprints - 4G ACCORD DISTRIBUTOR OBD-1 Adapter Plate

just bumping this for you Angus and Chris. I just read through all 27 pages of this damn thread and what seemed like a series of unfortunate events actually led to the 'right' person doing the machining and getting this done. HUGE props to Angus for all the measurements and testing on this and huge props to Chris for stepping up and taking this on after such a shitty outcome of the first volunteer. (where is he anyway? anyone find out if that guy is still breathing? after-all, he did get this started and close to reality, just kept meeting the wrong end of the law.)

Anyway Chris and Angus, if I get my way, after the end of the first quarter of the new year I plan on selling my (soon to be paid off) Protege so I could go find an 88-89 LX-i Hatch to 'upgrade' to as a daily driver, which I do plan on boosting with a puny turbo, and this obd1 conversion will likely go hand-in-hand with it.

So it's $300 for the plate and key from Chris
...and another $290-300 for the harness, etc from Angus?

So $600 total for an obd1 conversion? Not too bad IMO.

Actually that is a hell of a deal, I couldent even imagine a bolt on OBD-I kit for the 3gee when I first bought one.

Oh come on Dennis, you already know I have an '86.5 hardbody reg.cab shortbed for that. ...but that's another project entirely.

I'm just done with this Protege. It's time for me to upgrade from the Protege and get back into a 3G hatch.

Hey, thanks for the bump and kind words guys.

As with most things in life, persistence will eventually lead to success. I still have 3 or 4 adapter sets (plate and key) left, ready to go whenever. $300 shipped anywhere in the U.S.. Just PM me whenever you're ready. And if they all sell I can always make more.

yes you can use a 92-95 non vtec dizzy, yes you can use an obd1 dizzy from a 4g, no you cannot use anything from 96-00 as it's obd2 and the plug is different and the feet should be a little different too.

Re: 4g distributor adapter for obd-1 conversion

the only difference from the harness that angus makes is that his harness is setup for the external coil. So your stock coil remains intact. With the 92-95 distributor it's setup to use an internal coil so you'd be on your own for wiring there. If you've ever done an msd coil wiring the procedure would probably remain the same you would just have to change the wiring inside the distributor since it's trying to take the spark from the internal coil. it would be a matter of taking the internal coil out and running the wires back to the plug, which for me would be a pain. i'd rather just buy a new dizzy from distributor king for the f22 for like 140-150 shipped with a lifetime warranty.

^oh gotcha, i misunderstood, and i doubt he sees any 96-00 civics at the yards, they're not common as they're not just barely reaching the 14 year mark, next year you'll see a whole crop of 96's.

Re: 4g distributor adapter for obd-1 conversion

I want to add some o-ring info to this thread.

    Standard AS568-# sizes:
224 -plate and thermostat housing d-ring
    221 -plate o-ring
120 -can be used as a replacement for metric size that goes on the distributor itself

    Viton recommended for o-ring material.
