    Hmmm,

I'd almost be somewhat tempted to embark on a turbo project.....and to run a setup on my auto running 2psi or so, till I swapped it for a 5spd.

I say ALMOST, i'd almost consider it.

Honestly though i'm on my 2nd auto, I can't decide whether or not I'm going to bother just working this car or wait till uni is finished and I hopefully get a decent job

Personally i'd love iether one of these

yeah, that is GTO or australian for commodore or something like that. GTO has more HP that australian version.
Our auto trannies can't even handle the stock HP. I would think if you add turbo, you will blow it out in no time.

well, after having one fail in my car, and another fail in a friends, i just have no faith in them. i'm sure that with some mods the would hold up pefectly fine, but not without something like a level10 rebuild.

I think every once and a while you get a freak auto. Actually my first auto copped alot of abuse off me, it I shifted it, neutral dropped it, lasted 2 years of abusive driving before giving in. Kept loosing fluid pressure, I have a feeling if I left it with a competent mechanic it could've probably been fixed.

So I think they could handle increased power for a limited period of time.
Possible 2-5psi? providing its well maintained, has a tranny cooler, its quite possible.

I think A20A1 would be the biggest expert in the auto tranny field considering what' he's done with his engine.

Correct that's a monaro, ther'e more souped up versions such as the HSV GTO, i'm not really a Holden man myself, i'm more a Ford fan, but the Monaro is the only Holden i'd own .

Or one of these, HSV coupe 4 , AWD.

The auto in my Se-i couldn't stand the abuse. Never N-Dropped it, but I drove the car pretty hard, went *poof* after about 10-11 months.

But what if the tranny is well maintained, has oil coolers, etc. It might just lengthen its life.

    A20A1 how many tranny's u on ?

Well as I was saying my last tranny in the 2 years I had it was never serviced, never had fluid changed, never had anything. And I admit I was extremely hard on it.

It failed when it just started losing gears, and i'd have to switch the car off and switch it back on to get the car to move again. Someone told me it was losing fluid pressure, possibly because the oil filter was blocking up. I wish I'd taken it to get fixed by a proper auto mechanic and not a dodgy general mechanic to change the auto. my old box may have been salvageable.

Well mike if your watching, what sort of work have you done to your auto to toughen the 'ole girl up?

I've only had one tranny. I've had one inncident of a fluid line bust... but I replaced that and soon after began adding my oil coolers.

    I have 2 B&M coolers now
1 is with a constant fan to it... the large fan for the radiator.
If I need to I can turn on my second fan which is my second large radiator fan I put in place of the A/C fan.

I'm just wondering, would it be at all possible to use a reduntant a/c condenser as an auto transmission cooler?

Why don't you just do a 5 speed swap to begin with? It would be much faster than a turboed auto with only 2-5 lbs. boost....just a waste of time in my opinion.

a single tube through the bottom of the radiator. more to regulate the temp than keep it cool.

I am considering a swap, but factors to consider is to a) get a five speed here along with all the necessary parts, is difficult & expensive.

How much most US buys paid for a 5spd?
