    Front Bumper Cover

well i went to the junk yard looking for a cylinder head and some other stuff yesterday. i saw the car that i was lookin at still had the front bumper cover. so today i went and checked it out. looked pretty clean, not too scarred up. so i got it for $15. doesnt have lights or the styrefoam piece that goes behind it but oh well, mines still good on my car. and the lights, i can either just get some new ones or make some lenses to make the 86-87 ones fit. anyway, i have since washed the bumper cover and will take it to my auto body class to start fixing up. it matches my rear bumper too so thats good. i was thinking of putting it on the car already, but i kinda want to wait and repaint it. i dunno, it'd be easy to put on.

awesome find dude,,, and no paint needed, unless you want to redo the moulding. YOu never know what you are going to find in these yards, check them at least every payday....we just got a new one here, computerized and look up the car and it tells you exactley where it is, how many, etc. . its call pickapart. they advertise on tv any four cyl engine for 108 dollars. wouldnt that be sweet to get B18 for a hundred bucks.. or A22, hell they had a intregra there that was not checked in yet that has the front bumper everybody wants, I could not walk that day cuz of back but I wanted to see it, looks just like a acccod four door hatchback..

    Re: Front Bumper Cover

well i the body shop i went to a few years back put the 88-89 bumper on, not the correct 86-87 one. thats one reason i decided to get this one. also, my original one was messed up on the edges when i got it, and this one i just got i dont have to do much work to it to make it look good. not that anyone would care, but i was thinking about getting the european chrome trim piece that goes where the top of the bumper meets the body. most likely i wont because i havent seen one available. but yeah. anyway, i'm going to see if i can start working on this here at my house and do some of it at school. i found the correct paint to match my car in spray can type. i might check that out and see how it turns out on a test piece. i dont know how much the paint would be if i ordered it, but probably just as cheap as rattle can. i should just ask my teacher what he thinks before i decided on paint. i will probably start sanding on it and stuff to get it ready. also, i want to sand down the side trim and rear bumper too if i have enough money for paint. any rubber type coatings any of y'all could recommend? this would be for the black parts of the bumper and trim.

Spray Max Satin Black Trim Paint Part Number KWA 680 602.

Rattle can trim paint, but it's good shit. I've used it on a few things with great results. Looks great on the door pillars, mirrors, and wiper arms. Get some plastic adhesion promotor to spray on the bumper trim and side trim before you spray on any paint. All this should be available at any auto paint supply store.

    Re: Front Bumper Cover

i was actually thinking that myself. but i think i'm just going to bolt on the intergra lip spoiler instead. the 3gee is my daily driver so molding the bumpers is not something i want to do. i see my friends cars that are done, but start cracking and whatnot even when good work is done. i also had an idea a long time ago to mold a prelude rear onto my accord. so i was thinking buy the trunk lid, tail lights, and rear quarter panel ends to weld and mold to my car. anyway, here's some old scetches i made. minus the front end, that is what i was planning on doing.

    Re: Front Bumper Cover

well i've started working on it. used the DA sander to scuff up what was already there. i'm going to smooth the black trim instead of it having a textured finish. and i'm trying to decide if i want to paint the very top of the bumper cover black, to make it look more like the 86-87 sedan bumpers. anyway, its turning out pretty nice so far and going pretty easy. need to fix a few parts of it with the plastic welder, but that will be a snap. i'll post up some pix next week or so of its progress.
