Thread: USING A MAZDA MPV COMPRESSOR MANIFOLD ON ACCORD 10pa15e

  1. #1

LOOK: MAZDA MPV COMPRESSOR MANIFOLD ON ACCORD 10pa15e

Mounted up the 10pa15e to the 3G, couldn't find any in the junkyard, but walking around I found a Civic manifold and a MPV manifold, the Civic one would have the inlet/outlet facing the block. The MPV points straight up. I had to get creative with the hoses, and eventually I'd like to put the correct one or get a custom discharge hose, but here's how she looks!

oops, part is 180 degrees off

oops, interior is 60 degrees colder than outside

    Ugly, but functional

Oh, and yes, the 10p15e and 10pa15e use the same mounting bracket

That's a really low temp reading at the vent. Mine NEVER did that well from the day it was new.

So was any fabrication needed to make it fit?

Also, what vehicle was the compressor from - year, etc.

I'd like to get my a/c colder since floridas heat and humidity are outrageous. And my "new" compressor isn't doing great at it.

Re: USING A MAZDA MPV COMPRESSOR MANIFOLD ON ACCORD 10pa15e

it's a reman accord compressor (10pa15e) it only came on 86-89 accords, it's not a custom adaptation. The problem was the reman didn't come with the manifold (the "adapter" that screws to the top that you hook up the hoses) and I couldn't find the accord manifold. A lot of other Nippondenso compressors have the same style bore for the manifold, I found a few different ones with similar manifolds. This particular manifold was from a Mazda MPV. The Civic manifold bolts up as well, but the hoses would have to plug in from the back (I didn't think it would work)

The reason it's cold is because I did it right this time. I put a new condenser, expansion valve, drier, flushed all the lines, refilled with correct level of oil and r134, vacuumed (with the engine ), and wired both fans together. When the a/c is turned on both fans activate. When the car gets hot they both run at the same time.

fyi the manifold came off a 1996-1998 Mazda MPV 10PA17C compressor.
A lot of import cars use this compressor, just different manifolds

Good job! Its hard to tell by the picture, so could you please tell me what compressor type your car originally had? Nippon-denso or keihin?

Re: USING A MAZDA MPV COMPRESSOR MANIFOLD ON ACCORD 10pa15e

I've had all 3 now. Originally a Keihin. Swapped it for a Nipondenso 10p15e a few years ago, it always had a very slow leak at the manifold that I couldn't fix. Now its the Nippondenso 10pa15e, which is basically the same thing but with a different manifold, which I could not find, so I kludged it with a Mazda 10pa17c manifold. It is a 3gee compressor with a Mazda manifold

Well that was pretty creative, nice find. It took me a couple visits to the junkyard to find the right manifold myself.
