ok, if you dont know what a flipped lid is, then look in this section or FAQs. anyway, this is the thing. i have had my lid flipped for a while now, and it runs good some days and rougher others. today, i tried out the stock configuration. sealed air box with the intake tube off the side. and it was running smoothly. so im wondering if thats messing with the altitude jet thingys? and my real question was what is your opinion about the flipped lid? does it realy add power? or is it just in your head? i mean, i can understand that its getting more air flow with it flipped, but its also getting a lot of hot engine bay air. i know my carb doesnt like that too much. i realy just need to make a custom air box. but realy, what is better, flipped lid or stock? cuz it was running way better in stock condition. do i have basicly the same power either way? i think its all in my head, but i truely dont know.

Flipped lid gives you mad hp yo. It doesn't shorten the lifespan of your filter or let in hot air in at all.........:flip:

I use stock configuration.

It doesnt add any power. It lets in more air yes, but that air is significantly hotter. for a carb i'd do a sealed shortram with a hoodscoupe. That would yeild best results. Keep your config stock and get a drop-in K&N.

It gives the potential for more air to enter, but the air box isn't the major restriction in the intake tract. The only thing it does is dirty up your filter faster and make the car louder. The hp gains felt from it are psychosomatic.

Fact: It makes the car (my car) louder.
Opinion: Power gains

yeah PhydeauX, thats what im thinkin. my altitude sensor jet things must be messing with the carb. and also that lil' sensor thing. maybe its connected to the computer? anyway, i think im going back to regular until i get an alterative intake. either a modded civic or a custom built one. tell me what y'all think about this.

unless you done some mods to your carb, you won't see any performance gains.

people have been doing the flipped lid as long as there have been aircleaners with lids to flip. Louder yeah, gain I doubt it seriously. Your air flow is still limited to what the aircleaner will flow

I have noticed since I have removed all of my vaccum lines that it seems to make a VERY little diff on top end...other than that nothing much
