ok here the deal..my secondary vacuum diaphragm doesn’t want to open the secondary at all...ive checked for vacuum hose leaks but didnt find any leaks..but i did notice that the primary venturi is kinds loose. could that cause the secondary diaphragm not to open and ingage the secondary...if i manually pull the lever on the diaphragm, the flap will open and gas will start to spray only if i do it manually...so my questions are, is the primary being loose causing this problem..or could it be the diaphragm itself causing the secondary not to open..
Also is there a way to rig the secondary to open manually without the need of the vacuum? Thanks any help would be appericated cause my car is just to damn slow with out it working. By the way the car is an 89 accord 5spd..tune up every 3 thousand miles new fuel pump new fuel filters done in the last 6 months ..ngk spark plugs bosch wires…gets good gas miles probably cause of all the gas I save without the seconday.

Check the thermovale on the thermostat housing. It is designed so that when the engine is cold it bleeds of vacuum so that the secondary will not open. If you are uncertain you can take the valve out of the loop completly and just run a line from the front of the carb (#28 I'm pretty sure) directly to the secondary diaphram. If the secondary still doesn't open then you most likely have a hole in the diapram. Some folks have had good luck patching the diaphram with RTV silicone or replace the diaphram.
There is a how to around here to convert to manual secondaries, just do a search.
Good luck with it.

If you bypassed and it still doesn't work I would assume you have a bad diaphram.
