looks nice.. hope it sounds good too.. I think I am goin to do a dual exhaust on the truck and do 2 glass packs.. should be alright on a 2.8 carb
ok i painted it with the high temp aluminum paint, that stuff is nasty,it's in the middle of all the junk, kind of like where 's waldo.

kind messy tim lol...
it's my lab it's supposed to be messy!! I can find anything in there in like five minutes, except if it's in the loft, for all i know there might be a car up there.Quote:

this is the billet bracket that attaches to the factory donuts it's offset so the muffler is centered
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...9_258_full.jpg
I added a header flange and reducers this is what i've been messing with i welded on cap screws to put studs on the car part

All the work on this muffler and the box is mislabeled!! it's too long!! it's supposed to be the same length as the old one. I did the best i could with it, i didn't discover this until i put it next to the old muffler after it had been removed. i can't use my exaust tip now, the end of the muffler is even with the bottom of the bumper.

i will get a pic of the entire thing tomorrow,it's too dark now, i had to rehang the entire back of the system and fabricate hangers because the muffler had to sit different. this involved walking to autozone twice and digging through my junk for hours. I am beat. :uh:
ok since i can't use my tip, i might make a trim ring for the muffler tip,the welded part of it is just even with the edge of the bumper so the tip of the mufler sticks out. i might make an aluminum trim ring with drilled holes in it just big enough to dress up the tip a little. i though about pressing bullet casings in the holes for dress up. the flat end. so does anyone do any shooting and have some spent 45 casings or something? just the empty case nothing else. like jesse james does on his handlebars.
ok i made the best of it and made it look good, the muffler wouldn't hang right and by switching one of the donuts it finally literally fell into place. I also made a new billet tip since the other one wouldn't work any more. here are some pics.
making the tip:

I wanted to note believe it or not this thing is quiet now,you think glass pack, but i don't know if the longer glass pack is better and canceling sound waves or what.but it is quiet. the other one was deafening, and with it off the car it sounded like ,what do you call them, those instruments you shake? the packing had completly burned up and was rattling around loose in the old one.
hey does anyone know what size bullet casings equate to around 1/4 inch? i need to find some empty casings to finish my muffler tip but i'm not sure what caliber that is aprox. http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...9_278_full.jpg ?Quote:

So, I'm kinda confused as to what to buy if you got the thrush glass pack and it's quiet then I know that that's not what I want. Oh well I guess just kinda trial and error except I don't have the money to try and then find out it doesn't work. I'll ask a friend of mine what bullet casing equates to 1/4" and see what I can do. Good Work!

see? we texans are good for something! :ugh:
I like the billet hanger
I made that at work i wish i did have my own lathe. I guess the noise level of the muffler is really a matter of perspective, i mean it's a lot louder then a stock muffler, but it's not really ricy to me, remember i just replaced a blown out glass pack,so it's all quieter to me. this one on here now is a real cherry bomb, i just repainted it was all. Mine is a little louder because i have a complete different system and no converter. I guess ricy sounding is different to different people.Quote:

I ended up with an articulated aluminum assembly that looks like something that would hang the muffler on a formula car.

MUFFLER CONSTRUCTION IS FINISHED!!
update while i was painting stuff, i finally repainted the muffler so it has some contrast with the tip. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...ffler20002.jpg

:) well it's part of an accord propulsion device.
yeah
that would be pretty awesome cke.
Hey Tim why don't you get right on that!
I made a thread like a year or so ago asking how and they said to run a little rich and then get an old spark plug and distributor hooked up to a battery. It was one of my first threads. Back in the day
well the way this carb is running,I get the occasional small fireball from time to time anyway,no converter you know, new carb is coming though,it builds up a little unburned fuel at high rpm then ignites
thats an old trick from the fifties with he sparkplug, hot rodders have been doing that for years.as far as anyone saying the glasspacks don't make them quieter,i had to drive all the way to autozone with the muffler in the hatch and just the open pipe, and it makes just a slight difference. get around six thousand rpm and let off the gas to change gears, sounds like a gun going off from that extra fuel. gotta love it. that little pop you hear on a stock system is real loud,it's just muffled way dowwn is all.
Sounds like a plan :) I still think that would be an awesome thing to have except for the fact you would be constantly pig rich :( I know that autoloc makes a kit that can give you a near constant flame. I thought that it taps into the gas tank/fuel pump/line but, I don't have the specifics seeing as though they have a patent and charge some mega money for it.Quote:
-distributor +coil.
it's just a relay,it interrupts the ignition for a second when you push the button,at the same time it charges the ignition coil, when you interrupt the ignition the engine blows a bunch of unburned fuel down the tailpipe, when you let off of the button the ignition comes back on and it cuts off voltage to the coil at the tailpipe causing the magnetic field in the coil to collapse and the coil to fire. therefor it ignites thegas you just sent down the tailpipe. beware of these systems if you don't have a rock solid welded exaust also they are highly illegal in some places even if you just use them on the show circuit.
Do you have any video clips or sound bytes of the muffler? I just bought one nearly identical and am going to choose between it and a stainless steel flow thru.
well i have the pics on it also there are pics on my car omain link at the bottom of this page i'll pm you and if you want to give me a buzz i'll take the cordless phone out there.
drill the holes to 3/8" and poke some .38 shells in it :-)
