im in australia and we use kilometres insted. the speedo goes up to 220km and i pushed it until i got past it. I dont recomend doing that though. The engine might be robust as anything but still wasnt built for that sort of thing.
The fastest i've gotten mine up to was 110 mph. I could've gone faster but traffic slowed me down. I have an auto tranny too, so technically in fourth gear, I don't know how that compares to the 4th/5th gears in a manual. I'm confident it could do at least 125 if not 130. Doubt it could do any better than that.
115mph on a manual LXi is about 6,200rpm in 4th gear.
My car refuses to pull anymore in 5th :(

i have gone about 115 in the top of fourth(about5500rpm) a couple of times lately, i had no more road where i was at to put it into 5th. i could of gone to about 6500 but the real pull starts to drop out around 5800 to 6. i have msd blaster 2 coil, magna flow 2.25 exhaust with hi flow cat, custom cai ( which added alot better top end than my short ram) . ngk 8mm spark plug wires and a new clutch. my friend has a couple of t3 turboes we are about to mod up on my other lxi. hopefully in the next couple months. one of my other friends drove the car yesterday , and said its as fast as his 96 civic vtec, before he put turbo on it

i was told that my car(before i owned it) hit 140. The guy i got it from rides bikes and crap, so i can see the accord doing 135 atleast. Ive never been in the right mind to try it or had a long enough straight lol.

I thought I posted my new top speed, but apparently I didn't. On my way up to help Bitesize part his car out I had some asshole ricer in a civic riding my bumper at 90. I'm talking primer gray body panels, and badly fitting body kit. I think he thought he could keep up with me cause when I floored it he tried to keep up. I ended up going about 120 on flat ground, and he got left in the dust.

with my dc headers i can hit 100mph no problem at like 4000rpm in 5th gear.. not even pushing it and the suspension is smooth as. :D 5th gear actually pulls now too. I easily take it to 90+mph in 4th at like 5000. dont like to rev it much higher than 5500

havent tried faster, because of my 14" and H-Tires, bad balancing at the wheels, car starts to shake..
145 mph in the subaru. floored the brakes. does pretty good but i need new tires and i'll save it for the track next time. i dont have a speed limiter so it will pick up past 145, i'll admit it, it was scurrd.
I took my BMW out the other day and did 110mph without breaking a sweat. However, the BMW sticker on the rim flew off:thumbdn:.

I don't know if it's already been posted.. But I read an article somewhere's about speedometers and how they loose accuracy over 100mph.. Only like +/- 3-4mph, but still it's good to know.. I'll see if I can find that article..
To keep it on topic.. I used to whip the accord from omaha to GI 180ish miles in 1.5hours with cruise set at 115...

used me gps so i know its right. the speedo said around 115 so its about right.
Today i buried my SpeedO and ran it to red line (7800RPM) in 5Th gear and i did not blow it up (Thank God) since our speedO's only goes to 130mph i used a calculator to figure out how fast i was going and it says 168.69MPH I have no idea if that is correct but next time i will data log it and post. By the way the wife is still pissed off at me because she was with me when i was doing this:sad2: Here the link to the calculator i used.

best i have done with a a20a is 6000rpm in 5th gear. that should be around 200km/~120MPH
you can never trust an analog gauges as the faster u go the more inaccurate they are.
I hit 116ish the other day on my way to the varsity, would have keep it going but i looked over and saw 6 cops gettin on the highway so i slowed down...
fastest i've hit is 115 on a downward slope, but i can break 100 on flat ground too, 90+ is almost daily drive for me. however, after hitting the 115, i found that my speedo was reading horribly over, so i'm guessing it was closer to 105 or so.

90 lol. bone stock 89 dx auto 4dr. did it yesterday but after doing that i was drivin home and it idled too high and in park it was at about 3k, the battery light is on now to. today i went out to check on it, the battery light is still on but it's not idleing high anymore but it's running really rich, enough to make my new spark plugs go black lol. it's the carbed a20a1 if anyone wants to shoot some ideas about that by

Paul, i used a gear calculator before and it said 5th gear max's at 165ish... at redline...
i have an 88 accord, auto, carb. i was racing my friend and i hit the 130 mark my friend said i was doing over 140. my engine was rebuilt too.

Hi ppl this is my first post, i love my 88 accord, if there is a place for introductions let me know, for now i'll take some pics and write out some info on my car to add to the garage, any help or tips appreciated.
Guess i thought at least i can add something here, a few months ago i got my standard A20a4/automatic Accord up to around 165 kmph, i think that's just over 100 mph, brand new flat highway surface, smooth as silk.
I don't want to sell it so i was looking on the net about fixing it up a little and found this site, i don't know much but was thinking new suspension and maybe air intake like short ram or CAI (is that right?, i got no idea) but only if it easy and inexpensive over comfit, performance and being worth it.
I've got a good one for ya guys my stock 86 lxi 5 speed hits about 135 consistently, i'm out on a country highway with a decent sized hill but my friend who sold it to me had it at about 130 on I-25 and anybody who's ever driven on I-25 knows how risky that is lol! i have to mention I'm at 6000 feet+ so thats a feat by itself. Also have to mention mines bone stock wth 315,000 miles on it! Man are these little cars bulletproof or what?! :lol:
Saturday night I was able to peg my speedo in my 87 Lxi. I was running 5th gear @ 5grand with more to go. Im running a 5speed conversion with a E2Q6 (carb model) trans, Pacesetter header with full 2.25 exhaust, and my winter tires. (175/60 R13)
I never knew she had it in her.
I love ur avvy ^^ and i still havent topped mine out...
i raced my gfs jeep and left her behind bad...hit a curve hard and drifted all the way through it, looked down and the speedo read 104 :D never doing that again..really it amazed me how well the honda handled it.

ya i joined a year ago. i haven't really been active until a short while ago when i decided to begin to restore my 86 after my 88 took a shit. seems to me like 130 is near the top which i thought was weird but i do live out on a country highway with little to no police and a LONG straightaway after a 7% grade hill so i think that helps :DQuote:

130mph @ 4.5k in fifth in my first coupe.
120mph @ 4k in fifth in my second coupe.
110mph @ 3.75k in fifth in my third coupe.
I did 100mph and won't let me pass that with the issue I have on the car I wanna test what my has but that's the fastest I've gone
