Re: The Price O' Gas Thread

well with the price of fuel in the US higher than we are used to paying for, i've been looking for ways to get better fuel mileage.

in my '05 subaru legacy gt i changed out the oil with Royal Purple. i gained on average 3-4 mpg more. in the '02 accord i did the same oil change. not real sure what the fuel mileage increase has been, but its quite noticeable. also with this oil, much smoother running conditions and in the accord very noticeable passing power increase.

not sure if its such a good idea to put synthetic into my '87 accord's engine. its getting close to having 150000 miles on the clock. but i have had the head rebuilt and the rings seem to be in nice condition. what i'm worried about with this older engine is that the synthetic's cleaning abilities compared to conventional oil may loosen up deposits and it will start smoking oil from the exhaust. any suggestions for my 3gee? or should i stick with conventional? dunno if it could also free up things that would create problems in the other parts of the oiling system.
Keep it HONDA. Or at least Asian.™

ive always run semi synthetic or full synthetic in my civic since 130k (it now has roughly 185k)...it doesnt burn a drop of oil

thats the prob with roading systems like that
they cost a heap to run
recently watched a doco on the autobahn
and with the constant maintainence required, the higher cost of building the autobahn and all the medical teams and roadside assistance that it takes to run it all its not surprising the cost of fuel is higher
but you'd think that the wages would be comparitively higher as well.
and i stuffed up my math
its closer to USD$7 per gallon for 95 octane here

Re: The Price O' Gas Thread

I don't think I've ever had a full tank of gas in any car I've ever owned. Feels like way too much money to spend at once. Something like 90 € (140ish USD) is probably what I'd have to pay for filling it all up.

Jesus, I just filled up for $4.19 for regular. Not that $3.79 is cheap, but it's far cheaper than what we pay here still. It's worse than California! WTF!
