well I have the gauges in the a pillar now so there is definately alot of blue! lol
I'll have to get some more night shots. plus I have to get a dimmer switch from like a ford or somethign to dim the a pillar gauges cause I cant dim them with the stock dash lights. grrrrrrrr
man that looks sweet, i want to do this except with red for the gauges, it would go good with my primarily black/red interior
did you get a chance to look at mine during the meet? I would have turned on the blue but it would have been really hard to see in the daylight. why can't you dim with the stock gauge dimmer? mine gauges are dimmable. do your pillar gauges have standard bulbs?Originally Posted by guaynabo89
That looks great!
Try painting the needles as well, I bet that would look good.
Wow Guaynabo, you really do some innovative stuff to your 3gee. Awesome work!
Thanks there iceman gotta keep the old accord up to date
lol
The dash lights actually dim by manipulating the ground rather then the positive. So the 12v positive dash light wire stays constant. The autometer pillar gauges have one ground wire for the electronics inside including the ilumination. So if I would hook up the ground of the gauge to the dash ilum ground it would affect the gauge itself making it non functional. SO I have to find a dimmer switch to put inline with only the positive ilumination leads to all the pillar gauges.Originally Posted by lostforawhile
But yeah that basicly sums it up.
This is why some people say led's and gauge faces dont dim. because they need to hook up the ground lead to the dash ilum ground lead in order for the lights to dim.
Guaynabo should be the HOW-TO guru. He's done everything from: Big brake upgrade, Custom underdrive pulley, B-series Edelbrock intake mani swap, OBD 1 conversion, S-AFC install, MSD ignition system install, 7" LCD screen console install, custom racing seats, and now custom guage lighting.
Truly innovative work. I bet that car drives as good as it looks. I bet that's the most modded N/A A20A3 in this board. How much hp you think it's pushing now? You should attend more shows to get that thing recognized cus I bet no one else can compete. Props to you man!
yeah he is a man that knows his stuff...i also asked EricW if he could do a OBD1 conversion how to since the current one is like 16 pages. he also has a bad ass paint job on the car. just adding to Iceman707 comment btwOriginally Posted by ICEMAN707

do u have ne more?
i want soom.
so your illumination is tied into the gauge. I wasn't sure if it was wired separately or not. my gauges in my dash were wired with a bulb that grounded to the gauge, but i found a couple of bulb holders that had a ground wire and a hot wire, that lets me dim them now.Originally Posted by guaynabo89

can i buy some from ya?
looking perty tite there.
i think i'm going to attempt this the same time i pull my dashboard out to repaint it again...
so guanoman, did you change the stock led's....cause I did! lol It was really difficult but, I did it, and they all work!
Stock 5mm leds
Swapping in 3mm blue leds
Soldered and ready to go
Whala! It's a real bitch to get that plastic piece back on over the new leds. You have to coax it on and bend it!

Just messing with you.
But no I didnt change those leds cause it was to time consuming. I actually left those leds alone and the green indicator light in the cruise button and I also changed my jdm fog light switch from orange to green.
Other tha that everythign is blue. Well the pcp gauges havea little green in them so they match with the indicator (on/off) light in the switches and pushbuttons on the hvac.
It took some time changing the stock led's, but it's well worth the time.
plus I added an extra led to the cigarete lighter so it has two and lights up all the wayaround and swapped out the led that lights up the key hole when you first get in
