can i fit a 91 prelude engine?

hi! i know that this quetion is already answered in other threads but i want to be sure. i'm thinking about swaping my a20a2 with an prelude 2.0 16v engine. will it fit easy? what are the modifications i will have to do to make it fit? i think that it is a b20a4(not sure). thanks

why not build the prelude... they look just about the same and it would be waaay more cost efficient to sell the accord and build the lude

i thought it had more along the lines of 130HP, meaning for the $1500 you'd spend to get it in, you could just about have a turbo accord putting down a bit less than twice that amount of power.

no you cant put in easily prelude 3rd gen engine into 3rd gen accord.
If You want to have B20A you can:
Import JDM B20A from an accord with gearbox, ecu etc.
you can put B20A1 from prelude 2nd gen it will fit but to find one... heh...
etc buy it with gearbox, and ecu.
or try to find euro one B20A2 or B20A8 with the same....

every other option is going into custom mounting and so on = not cheap.

yeah, you should either save your money and build both cars or sell one to fund the building of the other. but you can't swap the prelude engine straight into the accord. for the amount of money and custom work, you might as well get a b16 and swap in instead.

I have never heard of a B20A1, B20A2, or B20A8.... now I'm gonna be googling until my eyes fall out. thanks.

But anyway, no engine from a 3rd gen (88-91) prelude will fit directly in a 3rd Gen Accord.
However, the 2nd Gen Prelude engines WILL fit, but they're pretty much the same engines... with the exception of the dual carb motor.

Personally, I think the best thing to do is get the JDM 3rd Gen Accord B20A (160 hp) and use that.

Or just buy a 3rd gen prelude. I love my 91 4WS Si. I put the prelude's JDM B20A in it, built it, etc. Now I've got about 200hp (still need to dyno tune...) and it's awesome. It beats B18C1-powered Civic hatchbacks. (i think a 94 model ...)

thanks for the tips. i fond a prelude 20i 16v 4ws and the owner says that it has 150 hp. is is true? i've searched google and it appears that there is an engine with 150hp.

probably try www.preludepower.com in their 3rd gen forum to see all the specs on that engine. it may be the jdm b20a for the 3g prelude, which is different from the jdm b20a found in the 3g accord or 2g prelude. but i don't know for sure.

The B21A1 has 140hp, and 135ft-lbs, although some sources say it has 145hp....
B20A5 has 135hp and I think 125ft-lbs...

The JDM 3rd gen prelude B20A has something like 160ps, which I think is closer to 150hp, so yeah, if it's a B20A, definately.

i've searched... it's a b20a7 dohc, 150hp. the only thing that's keeping me not to buy it is that it doesn't have id, documents(i don't know whats there names)

well, it wouldn't bolt in. you'd be better off getting a b16/18/20b instead. bc to get a 3g prelude engine in, you either have to get a custom hood, run without a hood, modify the hell out of the intake manifold and engine in general to fit in the accord bay right or modify the accord bay to accomadate the tilt.

all of them are EDM engines.
the B20A1 is 137HP EDM Prelude 2nd gen 2,0 pgmfi 16V engine gold valve cover
the B20A2 is 137HP EDM Accord SEDAN 3rd gen 2,0 pgmfi 16V engine gold valve cover
the B20A8 is 133 HP EDM Accord SEDAN 3rd gen 2,0 pgmfi 16V engine black valve cover.

the B20A8 has cat, egr,O2 sensor its the low emission 88-89y engine
the rest is -87y.

Thegreatdayne has the Accord with B20A2 and the Prelude with B20A1.
and it is still harder and harder to find one in Europe.
